I ended up doing some unexpected maintenance on my air filter housing today.
Normally when I check/clean my air filter (during my usual maintenance rounds) I check it/remove it from the side of the truck while standing on the ground. So I don't usually see the bottom of the housing due to the...
I made it to Lubbock, unloaded my truck, and setup my workspace/tools/etc in my storage unit/"shop". It's large enough to fit all the junk from my house, shop, the M35A2, and the M38A1. If I recall, the size is 16ftX35ft w/a 13ft door.
After I unloaded the truck, I gave it the bikini top look...
I used my truck to move more or less my whole shop.
Empty (mostly empty....only loaded with extra troop seat set, soft top, and 2nd spare tire)
Fully loaded with my garage/shop:
On the way out of town I ran by the truck scale at the local cotton gin. This is the most I have loaded her down...
welcome! I'm about 2hr away from lubbock currently. If all goes well, I am (hopefully) a few weeks away from moving to lubbock. Let me know if you need anything or want to go play with our big green toys.
Well guys I come bearing bad news.
Due to a shoulder injury I am no longer with TX State Police. I jacked my shoulder pretty badly during some crazy intense physical training. After reading the MRI, the Dr said I couldn't stay and play (MRI showed minor tearing in the muscle, tendons, and...
I just placed my order for an engine rebuild kit (the mechanic will call KW once he breaks open the motor and knows what OD size pistons, bearings, etc), transmission rebuild kit (pretty much all the guts), & x-fer case kit (only snap rings, seals, bearings, etc). I'll be taking my jeep down to...
Today I was able to knock out two jobs after work.
job1: I installed my new (to me) blackout drive light on the fender. this job was pretty straight forward. Just bolt it on the bracket, and attach the wire. The harness had an extra wire for ground but I was using a newer model (2004 model) BO...
Another Jeep update.
My Jeep news from the last post was a bit devastating. I was really pushing hard on the Jeep with a goal of having the jeep up & running before I leave for the state police academy (my last day at my sheriff's office is 5/1 & the academy starts 5/21). Obviously that won't...
I bought a complete harness from DeBella about 2 months ago. I am very pleased with the product. The price was what was mentioned above ($800-ish) but it was well worth the money in my opinion. My original harness was like yours....sketchy...and I didn't want to do any impromptu welding between...
Well I come bearing good news & some pretty disappointing news.
good news: I was able to get the motor running (for a few min) and my spark is solid.
BAD news: I was ONLY able to get the motor running after adding some oil into the cylinders to raise compression. Once compression was...
Awesome tips sir. I also come from the diesel world (7.3s & 465LDTs) so this points-thing is new to me.
I'll tear into it this afternoon and report back with results.
4/20 update:
I am still dealing with spark issues. So far I have replaced my Coil, condenser, points (properly adjusted to .020), rotor, and capacitor. My spark still starts out strong and fades to a weak spark (I can still see spark but it's not the bright/strong blue spark I had...
We had a little brush fire today on the west side of the county. The county has seen pretty heavy rainfall over the past few days which caused some issues for the only non 6x6 truck (cummins powered F750). Thankfully the 6x6 rigs performed flawlessly.
I will say that the 4x4 rig was...
