two piece 12 bolt rim assembly Hmmwv

I think you're missing the point here...(?) The question isn't just how to best get the tire mounted, but rather ensure alignment (= the least possible (radial) runout of both beat seats/flanges) once everything got assembled. I say anything over 1/16" sure causes - or at least contributes to -...

    M35A3 wheel beadlocks

OK, to respond that let's assume that Hutchinson knows well what they are doing....:giggle: If so, then each of the beads of a 395 XZL tire - mounted on a 10" wide rim - will have to give/compress/deform: A) about 0.2", if we installed their rubber-outlined steel band beadlock (p/n 12414420)...

    M35A3 wheel beadlocks

Not so sure, I think 10" won't fit, IMHO........ The A3 wheel measures exactly 11 inches from (rim) flange to flange, and the bead thickness of a typical 395 is more or less 1-5/16". With the tire mounted - and beads well seated - that leaves 8-3/8" free space in between them. So your beadlock...

    preventable rear suspension failure

No, not the entire back end..... With truck on firm and level ground (and front wheels well chocked!) - place a bottle jack in the center of the spring seat bracket (#18 in the attached diagram) - plus one jackstand to each side of it. Then lift up until the spring ends on both sides are just...

    M51 5 ton pto case

Yes, the transmission PTO rear facing accessory drive is the same for all M39/M809 series. And if this makes it easier to find just a bare gear case, all M44 & M39/M809-series manual transmissions share the very same housing for the winch PTO. (P/N 7061160)

So you have a M39-series 5-ton cargo there, with the LDS465-1 Multifuel engine? (If so, this thread will be moved over to the 5-ton Forum.)

    My DIY tow bar

Depends what you have in mind.... a fixed triangle, 1-pc design, or rather an adjustable 2-arm towbar, like the military uses? Almost sounds like your towbar will only be used for either one of your CUCVs (?) The distance between mounting points should be more or less the same for both...

RIM CHANGEOUT (Paired 24 Stud) with Run-Flats

Assuming 45 pounds is correct for just the three segments combined, that already is a lot more than the single piece rubber donut/runflat - which puts 31 lbs on the scale. And all 6 pieces together I suspect may be twice the weight (!) of the rubber runflat. (If I was the responsible buyer for...

RIM CHANGEOUT (Paired 24 Stud) with Run-Flats

Yes. These wheels have 15deg bead shoulders with no safety humps - which means the tire beads come off very easy, once the air is out. But even at 20 psi, if you accidentally hit a curb, that could be enough for the tire bead to separate some from the rim, followed by a sudden (and dangerous)...

    Balancing Tires

True, since the total weight won't be enough to deform the bearing inner race.... Don't forget you still want some kind of large washer/shield placed on each side of the hub, to keep dirt out. That shield could either be pressed into the sleeve, next to the bearing, resting against the outer...

    Balancing Tires

Yes, your hub needs to be sleeved in any case and bearings should fit snugly (pressed-in by hand). What are you planning to use as spindle? Because that's what really determines the bearing size. Any single-deep groove ball bearing with a I.D. of 50-55mm and O.D. 80-100mm will work for this...

Was looking for a shop in or near Milwaukee to work on M1008; then did it all myself!

OK, guess it's about time to update your thread title, then... (did it for you) ... How about this: "Thanks so much to this Great Forum STEEL SOLDIERS - and to member Cucvrus !" (In that particular order....)

    Deuce soft top part number

That P/N is what the TM9-2320-260-34P-2 shows in fig.460, item 2. You have it (almost) correct... just remove one "0". And yes, this parts book is for the M809-series trucks, but it should as well fit on the M44-series. Obviously not if it really is that much wider - which sounds strange BTW...
