    USMC MB-5A 10kw, 60Hz

There are no data plates on the thing, that's why I was stumped. It was originally a USAF unit, I think, because it is blue inside, as is the other one. The only ID on them is the plate with the wiring diagram that ID's it as MB-5A made by Libbey Welding. I just deleted the pics off my phone. I...

    The next Project an ASMH

Yeah, manila folders tend to be a favorite of some people at the compound even though I have recommended that those NOT be used, probably the reason that the machines don't cut as they should. The oil in the board is supposed to lube and keep things sharp.

OR a rental of some sort. One of the last rentals the Museum had was for something something that sounds like Revel Goon. The stuff that they rented was truly junk. Broken parts in a pile of broken parts that were ready to go to the big dumpster in the sky. There has been an up-tick in studio...

    The next Project an ASMH

Let me know. I can do 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1 and 1 3/4. We are limited to the length/width of the board to 6x20, because that's all there is in stock. However, McMaster sells them. Might be best to just buy a small pack anyway. The boards in inventory are old and brittle and don't cut well sometimes...

    USMC MB-5A 10kw, 60Hz

I would like to do that, but, in my experience working on things with overhead fuel tanks, some boats, generators, fire pumps, when water gets into the fuel and has an opportunity to sit, it will find it's way into things like lines, filters, boost pumps and into the actual fuel pump. I did...

    The next Project an ASMH

Did some goofy easy stuff on the beast tis week. Fixed a non op low beam, bulb just NFG. Attempted to get the turn signals operating. Had no light on the stalk, so I figured i'd start there since I have had multiple T.S. stalks be the issue of no turn signals or flashers. Found a pushed back pin...

    USMC MB-5A 10kw, 60Hz

Well, pulled the unit up to the shop and started digging. There are no tags on this that have an NSN, what TM s are used, nothing. Got it all opened up, put a tool on the crank and it turned. Good sign. Started looking around for batteries. It is 24VDC. Found it! A single 24V, 31 Ah aircraft...

    The next Project an ASMH

It is a pretty cool beast, however, it has been the cause of much pain, suffering and frustration. I also forgot to mention, after all the clutch hubbub, I tested out the rear controls. I set the throttle to wide open at the rear, disengaged the clutch and put the crane drive into gear. The...

    USMC MB-5A 10kw, 60Hz

@Guyfang, no TM numbers listed on the data plates...that I can see. They were made by Libbey Welding out of KC, Missouri.

    USMC MB-5A 10kw, 60Hz

Anyone have any expereience with them? we have 2 at the Museum and are thinking about getting them up and running. I have not looked in the library to see if we have a set of TM's yet. They are 10kw diesel powered, one is a Herc and the other White, 4 cylinder, NA diesel. They are both USMC...

A3 compressor, air system, relief valve

I am not familiar with A3s, but I have experience in OTR truck stuff. If when the A3s were built they set them up like modern stuff, there should be a wet tank, the first tank air gets pumped into from the compressor/dryer and then out to the other tank(s). At the outlet of the wet or the inlet...

A3 compressor, air system, relief valve

Don't the A3s have an air dryer? If so, is it popping off at the dryer relief or a tank relief? If it is the dryer, it is time for a service, the cartridge is most likely full or the valve is no good.
