    cummins 250 with turbo

Thanks Reub, I posted my source/cost for the tight turn section in other thread. Chassis Shop? The straight bit was NAPA exhaust stock, maybe 48" long. Used most of it. The 90* was left over from the donut. There is a little bend near turbo that was salvaged from the big rig hardware, just a few...

    cummins 250 with turbo

I am working on a similar project. Like Martin, I don't plan to get greedy using the NHC250. Target is 12psi +/-2psi. That may be as high as you want to go with no intercooling. 15.8:1 pistons should be ok here but more boost might require a piston change (cumming did this with each HP...

    Check your tires!

I think you are missing the point. Thumping tires has it's place and so does a tire gauge. I have seen fuelers (a union bid job) thumping tires before they do a hook (commercial big rig freight systems context). The driver is required to check tires and kicking is the fastest way. The DOT used...

    Check your tires!

I'm a tire kicker too. When pre triping big rigs (mulit trailer swaps per day x 25y)I'm looking for the flats. The slightest kick will catch one that's real bad. A few extras kicks and I can get acurracy up. Commercial tires run at 90-100psi so 50psi is easy to spot. I doubt I can tell 20psi low...

    Air lock rear

Special axles were made for Norwegian M621/623(?) 2-1/2 ton trucks. For external identification note the servo cylinder on an extension housing welded to the axle housing. There is also an indicator light. Both have brush guards protecting them. Internally a special long spline axle (one side...

    To all Members.

Not much of a reason. You had an opinion and expressed it, that is what a discussion group is for. If you have to leave go, but get over it and come back. Then let use know what your thinking.

    To all Members.

Avatar's, especially non-military vehicle ones, will (if kept awhile) provide an easily recognized identity for regular readers. Isn't that the reason for these images?

a couple questions about the deuce

Some may want to consider secondary road weight limits. You may be at risk for a ticket if you don't have a good reason to be in some neighborhoods/areas. Enforcement seems to vary a lot. In may be worst here in the N.East near suburbs of larger cites. NY State VT Law allows for 'local...

Why are threads or posts erased?

Let's not start any polling about what other names apply to me. You all should be grateful I delete 99.9% of what I want to say Before I post it.;-)

    m35a2 whistle noise

I had a bearing fail on the mower deck 2 weeks ago. It made a horrid screaching noise and [because I kept mowing] finally seized and stalled the 14hp engine. Things got mighty hot. Hard to diagnose with what little info the author offered. Anyways, I just thought to add along a different line of...

    m35a2 whistle noise

It could be a bad alt/waterpump bearing (rather unlikely) or a leak in the air line (also unlikely). Loose belts can also squeal. The non-turbo does have a muffler next to transmission, but loose baffles seem to rattle more than whistle.

Why are threads or posts erased?

Wolf, all, my last post was also sarcastic. I need to learn the smiley thing, if only to help others know when I'm not being serious. I noticed afterward your across the pond. I found with owning a British vehicle many across the way, and also in another parts of this county, avoid sarcasm and...

Why are threads or posts erased?

It was supposed to be funny, and there is also a inside joke in play. You may find the latter hard to get as the post(s) were, well, erased long ago. After more study Wolf has a point. My post has no military vehicle content and a clear violation of the rules, x2. Someone should delete them and...

    New V-100

Looks like there is another headhunter out there. In interesting study on how short guys have at least one DNA advantage. p.s. Troop D, 1 Sqadron - 9th Cav Regiment, First Calvalry Division (aka The Headhunters) had at least 3 V-100's also The 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment (1-9...

    fort drum good or bad

My 813 was missing the alt, horn, dimmer, headlight bucket, p-brake cable end, and one injector pushrod inside the engine. I'd say they were all taken by army quite some time before the auction. For ex. the alt wire ends were taped up well, and long ago. The rocker box was swapped out and many...

A flagrant violation of the posting rules. Mike, please delete last post (and my thanks?) and get there on your own.

    Unsprung weight

I may not have understood your original post. Are the 395's replacing the 16-20's or are they going on something else? I assumed you were adding bigger tires. IMO the factory spec is always a good starting point, but there are reasons changing them for your useage. The book seems to have...

    side by side size comparisons

Chris, It was slow with the stock LD (45mph?). It was ok with the D turbo at 12psi. Running 55mph was possible, even easy when road was flat, though 50mph seemed prudent . It was still slow on the big hills. Brakes, suspension and handling were very good. The 5t will be doing the nasty now.
