    Has anyone actually driven a M35 20+hours?

I drove to southern NJ and back w/30ft trailer(600miles) Had a p/u then a few rest stops on way back. Stack muffler would have been nice but did not have it at time. Didn't have turbo either, then MPG was about 5 or 6. Ave speed was 50 M/T and 35 loaded. 25-30 up hills loaded, and lots of hills...

    Turbo slober

" For example, CF-4 is for 4-stroke engines, CF-2 is for 2-stroke engines (like Detroit Diesels). " Thanks for the schooling. I tried to find that info, got tired yesterday, and gave up. The synthetics seem to be the best , but I am to cheap to use it [in a crankcase]. It is better because the...

    Turbo slober

Jon, Your opinions are very much welcome. My intention is only to provide another point of view, and create some discussion on the issue. From your example (links) the single weight Chevron Delo 400 does not meet CI, CI-4, CI-4 Plus, or CH, however the Chevron and Rotella multigrade do...

    Turbo slober

The first generation multi-grade oils (mid-late 60's) had some breakdown issues. The molecules would break down, especially at high temps, then recombine with O2, or whatever, resulting in sludge, different physical properties....all of them bad. The current multi-grade oil is much better, even...

    Vin Help

I found the frame vin# on a 5 ton, quickly thanks to reb87's posting the loacation*in another tread. The numbers were large and hand stamped, apparently after the frame was originally painted. They had very little imprinting in the steel. They all appeared as I wire wheeled the top layers of...

Will a 5 ton rim fit on a deuce ?

No. The center hole is larger, there are 10 stud holes instead of 6, and the holes are in a larger bolt circle. They can be made to work. I have a NOS V150 set (same as 5T except 10" wide) that has material welded in and then machined out for 2-1/2 ton pattern.

    Manufacture Year Help

There may be a casting date on the right side of Continental and White engine blocks. Look under the data plate. The bottom series is a date. Keep in mind the engine may have been replaced. Mine is ?-70 suggesting it was completed around 71. That seems to agree with the AM General name, and what...

    BFG 35's weakness?

The problem with LT radial sidewall repair is the cords get cut. If is bigger tan a nail it will cause a bulge. The sidewall also flexes everytime the tire rotates putting stresses on the repair. I feel BF Goodrich tires are some of the best available. I have use them (A/T's) for 250K on my Ranger.

Saracen mk2, buying one for cheap.

The B80 red lines is about 4K. Any repower might best match the rpm range to keep the same 40mph top speed with factory gearbox. The RR B series are very rugged. If it has compression and oil press you will prob not have to do anything but tune up. The thermostat has a bypass and the low melting...

Saracen mk2, buying one for cheap.

I thought it used the B80. Parts are very hard to find in this country. Shipping items [from UK] over a few lbs is expensive. Over 150lb can be very expensive. A bargain basement project may need a lot of parts. Anyways sounds like fun. Good luck.

818 now with turbo and pics.

From my hot rodding days I recall a section of straight, large diameter pipe beyond the turbo exhaust outlet is important as it allows the gasses to tumble and become disorderly, a helpful condition from the turbine's point of view. Also, as hot gasses move down the exhaust system they rapidy...
