The API ratings for commonly available non-detergent SAE30 is S/A or S/B. The detergent SAE30 oil, and most all mulit-grade oil is typically S/M,S/L or S/J. You may run into problems trying to use it at, or near, the lower part of its temp range. One example would be starting the truck on what...
I'm assuming you mean inside mirror. I have a Ford Ranger mirror mounted on a simple homemade bracket screwed on to the stationary center windshield divider. The windshield buttons in cars are very hard and undrillable. My mirror is a mounted a bit lower than I'd like as it has to see thru a...

Still need a nut? I got it(yours) at Frey today. It is a Stover type lock nut
(pinched on 3 flats, grade 8+)....$2.75. I had him check for a used castle
nut. Didn't have one. The nut I got is a std stock item there. He gave me
the last one but put 6 on order for the...
Differences abound and opinions vary. The air-o-matic installs easily in and hour or two, with no special skills or tools. I might be considered an appropriate military upgrade. It adds resale value. It may allows guest driver(s) a better experience. It can transfer easily to another vehicle(s)...
I just looked at the chart. With the .9387 minor you could adapt any 15/16 or 7/8 nut with a tap.

That $ isn't too bad, if they actually have it. Deals may be around .I got a new 1x18 on the online auction site for $25+. Any good machine shop could rethread...
The fuel gauge may not be very accurate. Good idea to check tank with a stick or carry some extra fuel. Expect 5-7mpg. Tires may look fine but will probably need air if truck was poorly maintained or has been sitting a long time. Run max air in front tires if you have a winch as they are near...
This is a fantastic thread. I never heard of a V-100 on a gun truck before. Its nice getting details with the pictures... Or, maybe nicer getting a picture with the details?
Thank you Driver and Jeff for posting these, and for your combat service in Vietnam. JimK

This engine is similar to the LDT and LD found in many M35s. Max no-load engine speed is 2850-2900rpm. Max operating speed is 2600rpm. Max...
I have a few spare gun port covers but would rather see them used in someones restoration. You could use one of your own gun port covers, or the rear engine hatch(roof). It can be repaired afterward, or if you don't expect aircraft attack, replaced with 1/4-1/2" mild steel.
Not a vehicle I familiar with but you may have a bad head gasket or a cracked head. The quick test for a gasket and is to start it stone cold rev up and then see if pressure is in rad. There should be none. Another test is replace a cap with a radiator tester. Pump up to 15psi and leave on...
SS Member V-100 Commando (Jeff) recently posted this V-100 truck picture w/details. There's a second picture on page 2.

Make it amphibious and drive in the Pacific. You'll avoid fences, traffic, bandits, toll booths, mosquitoes, snakes(maybe), tire wear, and Dirty Nellie's.
You Really need a Stalwart. With 4 tonnes of snacks and beer in back you could do it non-stop. You'll get a free ride down the N...
Have you preformed an oil/filter change? If it's unknown, or old, there may be a lot of fuel or water(condensation) in it . These are volatile and make vapor when hot. The rate gas flows out out the tube is a good indication of ring seal. It may decrease as the engine warms and pistons expand. A...

The v-100, with its M35A2 axle (W/Detorit lockers F/R, by the way) had some axle shaft breakage issues (at flange) behind a rather weak 361 gas engine. They added a shifter interlock to keep it out of low in 4x2. The V-150 solved the problem by using 5T axles.
So torque multiplication is a big...
Not many place to off road here. Winter road salt will wreck a nice one. Power steering makes it easy for chicks to drive . Register as a historical vehicle and DMV cost is 20/year. Collector type insurance maybe 40-50. Options are nice and you may wish you spent a bit more later .(Hard top...
