Dave, I figured you just meant it's great stuff, and it is. I just thought it would be good to comment considering the topic. It is the only 'grease' I can think of with metal flakes in it. Molybdenum disulfide grease does have elemental metal and used grease may have trace wear related metallic...
Don't use anti-seize in plugs. It's not grease. "Never Seize" is the stuff with metal flakes in it.
Silicone can cause fish eyes when re-finishing (maybe your vehicle or another project in your shop).
emmando22 is correct. It does -not- conduct, otherwise the pins could become connected. Another example of a di-elctric would be wire insulation. Any grease should be OK. An old truckers trick is to dip the trailer plug in the fuel tank.
Slapping it on and hoping for the best puts a lot of faith in those who set up/messed with the IP. Some of these trucks have been around a while and worked on many times. by many different mechanics , some w/perhaps questionable talent. It is also not a direct parts swap. If it smoked a lot...
The two big factors, engine operating range and displacement, are the same.
Can anyone offer the LDS max boost in psi?. The LDS-465-1Trouble Shooting Manual spec. is 18-20"Hg at 2400RPM(page 34).
The manual indicates induction air flow is rated at 550cfm (page 10). The LDT air filter...
The D turbo has an improved compressor wheel design and may make a lot of boost if enough fuel is available. My LD(non-turbo) was a smoker. Its response to the D turbo was less smoke and a lot more power. The engine pegged a 15psi gauge. At that configuration the EGT (exhaust gas temp) under...
Your "rides around" is accurate. Mick is the commander, and stays in the cupola . There's a third V-100 (an easy to miss red E1 w/o turret), Russian BTR60, British Alvis Saracen, and a few CJ type jeeps(civilian?). Jerry Hall made it and plays the reporter.
V's also appear in-
The Siege (at...
Here are the painting instructions in TM 9-2320-245-24, section 4-11 (page 41) . This TM is dated Jan 1972 and would be a good indication how the factory was painting V's aorund this time. This would be near the end of V-100 production.
Section 4-11's text looks like it s copy from a...
Honing a good bore is unnecessary. Many, including myself, may do a very light hone just in case. Light honing will never wear out the bore and can remove small imperfections in bore that have small issues. A Heavily pitted bore may respond to excessive honing as the seals can make up for almost...
Photos posting here seem to either Beauty or Beastly. Next time I'll try and scrape off any mud wasp nests. The exhaust system past manifold (Flowmasters),a power steering cyl (4"stroke-cut down 5T ), Ford fan(note small hole).

Also, the V's use a 24V starter and have cyl bores liners.
The dist drive shaft is extra long(not shown).
The front dump manifolds are an elegant solution, Some are welded up. I have seen pictures of cast iron exhaust manifold with both front and rear dumps. They use a block off plate. The exhaust needs to get out ASAP. The cooling system exhaust duct is available and only a few inches away.

The V-100's engine (M75) uses an odd Holley 4 barrel carb. It looks like a throttle body with a small float bowl suspended above on small towers. I'd think the design is for rough terrain (high angles). It is claimed to be troublesome and a modern square bore Holley is often used instead. There...
Rory,
So, you thought your grocery getter is pretty cool? Here is how it compares to the new Batmobile.

Also,
I have found that extended heavy towing (max load, max engine output for hours) with a light duty vehicle up can overheat rear ends and transmissions. The high temp causes lubrication problems. That can damage the gears.
A gasoline engine at WOT has much more thermal stress than a...
A well maintained 40 year old truck will provide better service than a poorly maintained 10 year old tuck.
If it is under the rated load it should be both legal and safe. Vehicle operation and maintenance are critical.
Pulling on level terrain is very easy. Hills are not. The speed up a hill...
You'll need also IFTA and HUT permits, safety triangles, conspicuity tape, correctly rated tie down chains, fire ext., a license plate light and center trio clusters on the truck.
A deuce will have very little legal load capacity left after some empty equipment trailers are attached. My 94'...
