I have a NOS cradle for that. Uses both pins w/ 2 light sideplates, has small set back, uses a std socket. Would you like a picture?
Is that is the new Happy Trigger? I'd like you thoughts on it. It looks pretty good from the internet.I might get one myself if a static display MG doesn't turn...
I got a new Lincoln Weldpak 125 (220V) added a gas kit and bought my own bottle ($350/$80/$250). Gas is 75%Ar/25%CO2 ($55 fill). It might be close to 20 Years old now. I use it MIG 99% of the time. I have a small Argon bottle for light Al work. The innershield (flux core/gasless) can do more...
The factory welds are softer than the armor. They create vulnerable areas. Most welds on the side(s) have ballistic backup strips, visible on the inside. This may be why the side panels are one piece, then bent.
The damage looks like the result of a rampant AP projectile (aka solid shot)...
The T-case is a Rockwell Model T- 275- D. The Ratio is 1.33:1. My Ser is 6- 72- 0014. First part may be the date of manufacture. Note the low number there on other end. I was told it came from a Jamaican Defense force V150 gasser around 86'. Other countries may have one but prob owned by the...
Use the original band clamps or something similar. Exhaust clamps with the U-bolt can dent the pipe. The pipe needs to be dent free because the elbow must be removed to open the cowl flap. You might want to weld the nut so there's one less part to lose and one less wrench will/might be needed...
You might have to run it hard [once] to know if smoking at idle is normal or from its lack of use. Maybe poor quailiy fuel(old) is making it smoke? A hard driver probably has fresh stuff. i would guess running hundreds of gallons thru might keep injectors clean. Idlers may not get up to...
It is unfortunate the USAF, with its nearly unlimited resources (in labor, finance and equipment), cared not. Giving up on Kee Bird left the task to others. In 50 years only one answered the call.
I don't know how fair it is to speculate on a successful recovery mission that never was, or the...
Thanks bigmillman. I used a NAPA elbow seen posted somewhere here, and a NAPA straight cut in half (shared with neighbor) welded on w/welds ground flat. To update that rattle issue I had, it went away after I removed and reinstalled the muffler. Second favorite mod, after the turbo.
Seems that piece was from Major Shul's book "Sled Driver".

p.s. 60min/hr x 60smin/sec divided by 1.6m/sec = 2250mph (1955.2 knots)
This was not my story. It was sent to me and seemed good enough (by a wide margin) for a spot among this fine crowd. It took a few trys to find an internet version with credit -Major Brian Shul. Hopefully that is accurate.
Perhaps those with thank-you's can edit their posts so as to credit...
Major Brian Shul: "I loved that jet"
In April 1986, following an attack on American soldiers in a Berlin disco, President Reagan ordered the bombing of Muammar Qaddafi's terrorist camps in Libya. My duty was to fly over Libya and take photos recording the damage our F-111's had inflicted...
