I need to make an ignition adapter for my timing light. It starts very well cold so I didn’t think about timing. I have gone through the brakes. Some were too tight but that was before the longer ride to work.
I suspected a lean condition as well but pulling out slightly on the choke didn’t help as I expected it would if it was lean. The governor system is disabled but it’s possible I’m still having an issue with that on the carburetor. I was having a sticking throttle and it was because of the...
For reference, it’s a 1953 Studebaker with the 331 Reo. It runs beautifully and has recent tune up parts installed. I’ve read some members cruise at 55 and some say 45. My speedometer is functional and accurate. I know there are a few gassers on the site so I was hoping for a comment from one...
After several trips around the house of 10 or so miles, I decided to jump out and drive the M35 to work. It’s about 35 miles of 2 lane road, one way. 45 mph was pretty much all it would do. If I back off the throttle some I could manage 48 mph. Without a tach I don’t know engine speed but it...
I enjoyed looking at the progress of your strata blue deuce. I just recently acquired a 53 Studebaker in air force blue. I’m torn between going back blue or making it green. The forest blue does look really nice.
I tried it again today and got it. I probably should’ve taken pictures but it took both hands. For future reference, the small brass washer and spring go under the retainer plate. The plastic spacer goes on top of that plate. The the medium brass cup, spring and large cup are next followed by...
I have all the pieces but I’m struggling on the install. I didn’t take it apart. All I can find is the drawings and I think the contact should go through the plate with the rubber blocks. Any actual pics would be much appreciated.
In NC a trailer that has permanently mounted equipment and can’t be used for hauling other property or is equipment doesn’t need tags. Like a cement mixer, pig cooker, pressure washer, etc. Also trailers don’t need insurance to get tags. Not sure about your state.
Thank you! That’s exactly what I told my wife. She looked at me funny and said “I didn’t expect you to compare it to a sewing machine.” I have a universal pressure bleeder at work that should work but I’ll add the bleeder search to my list. The seller sent me a pic of what the truck looked...
Its ALIVE! White Owl is only an hour from work. I called them and got a new coil, cap and rotor for the Deuce. I'm guessing the old coil just wasn't enough to get through the resistors in the cap. Also the new rotor looked like it had a resistor in it too. The old one was just metal without...
A little update. I spent several hours working on it yesterday. The seller knew the trucks prior owner and said it only sat 2 years after he passed away. The old registration confirmed that timeline. He attempted to get it running but gave up after fighting a no spark condition. The engine...
Just picked up a 1953 M35 Studebaker in non running condition. You can just tell this old girl was loved in its previous life. Its still a gasser and not cut up and I plan to keep it that way. Of course plans can change and it may get a diesel swap depending on the engine condition. I'll try...
