What have you done WITH your FMTV ( trips, Rescues etc) NOT: fixes, updates etc

How much do those blocks weigh each?

    New LMTV owner

There are several versions of the cover. At least one of the versions has a pocket in the bottom of the rear flap, where a bar goes. However, if you put a steel pipe/bar in there, water sits and it gets rusty, which is why I used PVC. I have 3 different tops for my LMTV, and only 1 of the 3...

    New LMTV owner

Mine was missing, and I just put a piece of PVC pipe in there. I think it was 1/2" ID.

    Light guards

https://thosemilitaryguys.com/products/headlight-guards Fairly basic to start with, but could be modified. I'm not sure how necessary light guards are. The face of those LED lights are thick domed polycarbonate, and the rock that broke the DIY guard above probably wouldn't have broken one...

    100A -> 200A/400A alternator replacements

Military spec stuff is really expensive (several times the cost of similar consumer products). That kind of pricing sounds pretty appropriate.

    LMTV Cab Suspension Airbags Alternative

Yes, to clarify, the rubber bag is already banded onto a metal sleeve. That's what I bought. And I removed the old bag and sleeve from the lower mounting portion (the part with the air fitting and shock absorber), and then installed the new one.

    LMTV Cab Suspension Airbags Alternative

I got the correct original PowerPacker bags. They don't crimp on. They just slide over, and seal with an o-ring. They didn't fully seat at first, but I just put some air pressure in them and they seated themselves.

    LMTV Cab Suspension Airbags Alternative

You can still get the correct air bags. I replaced mine last year. I think they were $150/ea. Most of this discussion is about trying to find ways to get a cheaper alternative.

    runflats, good or bad?

Just the stock steel LMTV rims. And when I say "with or without runflats", I mean with runflats or with the standard beadlock collars, not without any beadlock part in there.

    runflats, good or bad?

I don't know. I got mine a couple years ago off eBay, but they were all over. People could barely give them away.

    runflats, good or bad?

I couldn't tell any difference between sets of tires that had them, or not (that includes both balance, as well as MPG, acceleration, etc.). There are Hutchinson 3-piece bolt-together run flats that can be bought pretty cheap ($50/ea?). That's what I put in. BONUS: If you use those, then...

    LMTV CTIS Question

Realistically, they probably aren't very easy to kill. Military electronics have to meet extremely rigorous specifications (e.g. temp, overvoltage, polarity, EMP, EMI, etc.). But we have a member ( @Stellaevil who I haven't seen in a while), that worked at Spicer, and said that there are...

LMTV M1078 Transmission Fluid Change To ATF Write Up

A good summary. There is a lot of talk about the ATF fluid change as if it is an important, or even necessary, upgrade. Some people feel shifting benefits from it, others notice little change, and some have "placebo effect" when they do/don't have it but think the opposite. What this suggests...

    LMTV Hitch Extension Kit installed!

Yeah, it looks like SteelSoldiers shrunk the resolution. I'll see if I can convert them again, or try to figure out why it was failing. At least a decent copy of them is safe for now. As for scanning them, the best he could do is to make sure he scans at the highest resolution his scanner...

    LMTV Hitch Extension Kit installed!

Even if he scans them to PDF, you will not be able to enlarge without loss of clarity. That is only true if you output a PDF from the original source (e.g. CAD), and that program was able to do so in a vector format. Long story short, all you would get is a PDF of these same images, with no...

I'd definitely like to see a copy, if you can scan them. If you can't upload them, PM me.

    PTO winch help

The transmission is "cooled" by a heat exchanger below the radiator, using engine coolant. So it's normal operating temperature is the engine's temperature... 200F+. The temp may not be a symptom of anything. Even though you only drove a mile, it typically only takes my truck a few miles to...
