    Flat Towing a M998

Exactly what I needed towing my Deuce and M105 trailer with my Dodge 1500 4x4. Fine straight but the first turn the Deuce turned me everywhere but where I wanted to go. (Safety tip: It was an emergency and I sure don't recommend trying to tow a 16,000lb load with 5,000lb pickup.)

    Titling HMMWV in Indiana.

I've said it before and I'm guessing that it still applies after reading this thread. You just have to find a good DMV. There are probably 5 closer to me but I drive 19 miles away because they are nicer and have never done me wrong. They have asked why and I said because I like all of you better.

That was my takeaway from the article. The sides force the rail to move in only a certain way. If they can do it for TGV they should be good to go.

If anyone in the San Diego county area is familiar with the M800 series

I see the problem in the video. Spiderweb on the front of the engine not adjusted correctly. ;-) It sounds like it still could be corrosion on the connectors but my guess is the starter solenoid. That starter isn't light if you take it off. But make sure the engine can turn over first.

I watched them install the ribbon rail through Farmersville, OH. I think in the early 70s. They did that line due to two derailments inside of a week in the same place at a crossing. The cars would sway so much in that spot I'm surprised any of them made it. That is also when I first saw the...

In some cases a business will want to reduce overhead and one the ways to do that is to treat employees badly so that they leave and cheaper ones can be employed. Sad but true.

If anyone in the San Diego county area is familiar with the M800 series

I got lucky with my old one. A friend found a gear-reduction starter and put it on. Started easy on two small batteries.

And I wouldn't recommend a new alternator until you determine the one on there is bad. I used a Delco like new one with new brackets. About $115. Some people like them and some don't. I've used them on a M813 and a M35A2 and both worked.

Can you turn the engine over with a bar/socket? It may be frozen.

If anyone in the San Diego county area is familiar with the M800 series

Did it fail to start the same way as the first time? Just the solenoid clicking? It could be that the cables going to the starter need removed and cleaned to make a good connection. It may arc over a little and then open the connection and that will result in a clunk and no start. The relay...

My new hobby: Wood military vehicles

I am sorry I missed this thread until now. All I can say is wow! You can tell you are passionate about your hobby as it shows in all your models. And as most know I have a soft spot for Slidell since Katrina. Ever try aircraft? You know, something simple like an F-14A? ;-)

If anyone in the San Diego county area is familiar with the M800 series

I don't remember the symptoms of a control box problem but they are on this site. The control box is the black box on the firewall and has relays associated with starting in it. You could check the voltage on the starter when you try it making sure not to get anything shorted out or those 4...

I think mine was 6-8mpg and like Mullaney said, go with the low side. While looks aren't everything I'd be doing a lot of work on that truck prior to driving it on a trip like that.

If anyone in the San Diego county area is familiar with the M800 series

I sold my M813 and I used to live in San Diego County. My piece of advice is to check on whether you can even get it registered to drive in CA. NHC-250 Cummins engine 5 speed manual transmission 2 speed transfer case Sprag front end wheel engagement 24vdc Alternator is lousy IMO I enjoyed...
