So far I’ve had good luck with Moog. But I’m sure any reputable brand is fine. I definitely agree with changing everything at once, I’ve done that on my m1008 as well as other vehicles and then typically you never have to worry again. I’d suggest going to rock auto at least to see what...
Today while I was under the truck I noticed a small oil seep from what looks to be holes drilled in the axle housing. It seems like these are from the factory as other axles have the same thing as well, and it feels like they’re plugged with some sort of sealant.
Does anyone know what these are...
It’s been a little while since I’ve done much to the m1008 but I finished up my other project truck for now so time to get back on this one. For starters new springs are on the list. Today I swapped out the rears and added new hardware as well. These were already changed at one point years ago...
On this note do you know if they’re 5/8” or 1/2” sockets? Or are both present for different indicators? No big deal if you don’t know, I’ll be able to tell when I pull the cluster back out.
Can you have them pull the pump to confirm the teeth are bad? On eBay there are both used full vacuum pump systems (distributor drive and all) as well as just the pump head (brand new). It’s easy to pull out the drive from the motor and check.
It’ll be hard to find a new filler hose that fits the cucv neck as I’m not sure they make them. Hopefully you can reuse yours, or find a gently used one online (I think hillbilly wizard had some). Or switch to the civy neck and hose.
And with the tank strap rivets, I just drilled them out and...
Is your idle set too low? I had to bump mine up a little to ~700 which greatly reduced the rattle as the bed was vibrating as well. I put in a fluid damper beforehand, it helped but wasn’t a miracle either.
I can’t confirm exact LMC numbers since I ordered on Rock Auto, but those should be correct. It is indeed a 20 gallon tank, and I purchased a 3 port sending unit. I included shots of the exact parts I purchased spring last year (showing current prices) and had no issues with them.
With regards...
Alright I finally got around to performing these tests. I’ll go through my process and y’all can let me know if I did something wrong since my results seem inconclusive.
To start, i ran the motor to see if there were bubbles in the radiator. All seemed well there, no bubbles. Then I proceeded...
I’ve read through that thread before but forgot about that part specifically so thanks for the reminder! I am planning on the ARP head studs so using that sealer is an important point
