Engine idles about 600-700 rpm.....and it is ALOT slower off the line than my M923 that was fresh out of referb in 2010. Test driving it some today around home , away from the stress of this 20k elephant dying on a major highway, i have noticed it's not as bad as it was on the day i picked it...
I picked up a nice M923A2 from RedStone this week but have found it seems to have a slight transmission issue. After a few minutes of operation the truck is VERY slow to come off the line in 1-5 but once it starts moving it seems to gather speed fairly quickly and shifts normal.
On the drive...
Just my .02 on the Wd40 on these orings...that product will work for a while but will cause your Orings to break down over time. A good air grease like Dow 33 or Dow 55 would last MUCH longer and not dry out your orings. A tube of Dow 33 can be had for $9 -15 retail depending on source and...
As i remember there was a good many of the SF-97's that were not stamped "off road use only". I can say with certainty that mine had no stipulation like that on it. I had about 60-75 trucks to pick from over in Augusta Ga back in 2002. My understanding then was the USMC got approval from...
This is a really tough question for a couple of reasons.....most of us who have more than one of the same truck ie M37....M35.....or M923 know that EACH truck has it's own personality....three of the same trucks sitting on a lot each one will drive and preform differntly. WHY ??? I have no...
I picked up one of those "Atlanta" Humvee's back in 2002. I got to test drive and pick the one i wanted out of about 50 or 60 that were for sale. (Side note, not all of them were runners). I spent the whole day going thru the vehicles they had and was suprised at how varied the condition of...
There are several of us down this way that can lend a hand....PM sent with my cell #. Once you get rolling there isn't much that goes bad as long as fluids are good and no leaks from hoses. Won't bore you with the basics but someone that can help in the area you are in means ALOT !! Wreckerman...
Dang Wreckerman ....I wouldn't sell my my deuce for $5500 and it's got a winch and the soft top and cargo top are in good shape....and the all the systems work well.
Don't want that "this guy is nuts" label cause i am asking more for a truck than a good deal can be had for. LOL...may just put...
Wreckerman,
THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT !! I guess i will cut my deuce loose soon then, i have noticed that the 5 ton will have a tougher time getting into the smaller places my M35 does as tight turn on the 5 ton are a planned event....but then you know all about that with the 20' bed you...
Thank you....I'm very proud of him for all that he has done and continues to do. He was awarded a Bronze Star with a V device in the Kandihar province recently which has only put more gray hair on his ole dad.
His adventures while on route clearence has shed alot of light on our hobby...

I understand the weight diffence.....the m35 i know well.....the m923 is still unproven to me, and newer doesn't always make things better. I may hang on to my deuce for a while longer just to be safe. I've had it for 11yrs and it's never failed....i would had to partwith itonly to have sellers...
I have a deuce is good shape and just picked up a 5 tn (m923). I'm thinking about selling off my deuce but i'm not sure the M923 with it's automatic can come close the pulling power that turbo multi-fuel has. I've pulled some large logs around my property and wonder if the 5 ton could handle...
Wreckerman your help with GL, slaving my truck, your knowledge of the area made my recovery much easier than it would have been. THANKS RICHARD !!!
I took the basics with me that any road trip starts with, fluids, batterys, tools , some experience, and a chase vehicle. A quick check of the...
Bruce do by chance remember the days when you had to use a bidder padal at the live sales DMRO used to have? Those where the days of RUTHLESS bidding..
Thanks for the insight on the price....the more i've looked around the better i like my purchase. I was seriously looking at bidding on some of...
Wreckerman...they got me in @ 10:15...but i will need directions. It's got the 250 cummins in it.....and everything looks new. The bed looks like nothing has ever been loaded in it. A truck this close (5 hrs)...and as nice as this was too good to pass up.
Semper Fi !
