Hey guys i just won a m923 from Huntsville last week. Truck looked really good on the pics/video....running vehicle with troop seats and duels. Only 260 miles since last rebuild and the markings looked like it came from an MP battalion. Someone wanted it as bad as i did and made me pay so @...
Just a general question for some of you humvee owners...i bought mine in 2002 with 12k miles on it. Only put 6k on it since i've had it.
It was in awesome condition for a barstow truck. So far just basic repairs to keep it rolling....nothing major for a 1987 truck.

Mine does the same thing on startup...and after 6 yrs it still is a source of irritation. Someone eles on the forum has brought this topic up before and i believe the solution is changing to a higher quality belt. Do a quick search and i'm sure those belt #'s will be available if you choose to...
So i'm guessing the "wellmans" sold under command componets on ebay are not very good glow plugs ??? Wish i had done more research into the differnt brands as i have just installed a new set of these plugs. Not too late to swap'em out before they go bad. Just a pain in the butt to waste...
My lower hose sprung a decent leak last week while running @ idle in the yard. It was swelled up fairly large from age so i can assume it had been on there for a LONG time.
I ordered the parts (new hose / radaitor cap from S&S) and checked the forum for those folks who had taken this project...
#1 alt tested...shop found it to be bad. $140 for a rebuild and she is charging the battery @ 14v. I pulled the dash out to check Voltmeter and bumped it on side of metal dash, i got a small spark so i know i got power to gauge. Blew the 10 amp fuse also...
Located a used gauge and i will...
Ok...a voltage gauge...sorry for the improper term. My time was limited this morning before i got out for the moring and that "AMP" thing was stuck in my mind. I've got new ones in my parts supply for my M998 and could modify one to work but wanted to stay with what came in the CUCV.
Seems...
I have a stock (unmodified) M1009. Truck has been flawless until the amp gauge stopped working. Vehicle will cycle thru glow plug warm up as normal and the alt lights go on and off as normal. So i figured bad gauge and put it on the list of things to do.
Went out to start the truck a week...
My son who is on his third tour in Iraq sent me a few pics last week. I thought i'd share one. He gets to play with all the FUN stuff.

I had to tow a friends M37 back to his shop (fuel issues) with my M1009. I lucked out and had my newly purchased super duper tow bar in the back. He rode in the M37 and i didn't tow faster than 30mph. We didn't have to go far, maybe 7 or 8 miles but i never gave it a second thought. Maybe i...
The number that is stenciled on this truck is 02. Done in white latex paint. I recently removed the "aviation challenge" markings with acetone. And i know it's been said before, but acetone has NO..zip...notta...zero effect on CARC.

Gamma Goat
Yes ...it runs VERY well. The plugs are not installed, and i'm not sure it was released with them. This truck is tagged with an Alabama "classic" tag, and sold with a bill of sale. Alabama doesn't issue titles on anything made before 1975. It also has an NOS tailgate that came from...
I have a 1973 M561 gamma goat for sale. Truck was used at the Space and Rocket center (NASA) in Huntsville, AL. It still has the "Property Of" stickers on it. Truck was Rebuilt by the Army prior to being released to NASA. It has 4300 miles on it since rebuild.
Runs and stops great. This is a...
