I see. I should probably leave things original since it was designed with a purpose and nothing is wrong with the original cap. I just thought this would make checks and refill easier.

Open the distributor cap and test the different points mentioned in that troubleshooting part. You'll find out real quick what is wrong. Most of those parts are inexpensive and can be found at Memphis Equipment, Alfa Heaven, etc. I had a condensor go out a while back and found it was the problem...

Welcome to the forum! There is indeed a lot of maintenance to do on these old trucks. A copy of TM9-8024 will be very valuable to you as you learn your new truck. The TM can be found at Portrayal Press and sometimes on Ebay.

I just noticed those amber lights mounted on the front fenders of all three of those trucks. Is that a Canadian Military thing? Just markers, turn signals or both?
4179 would be your VIN. I am curious what the other numbers mean too. I found these numbers stamped on the top of the bumpers of my parts trucks. The numbers beginning in 411 are the military hood registration numbers, but I have no idea what the others are.

Yep. On the frame behind this wheel. Probably a bit further forward than the axle.
Take a wire wheel to the frame and you'll find it. If it is an M135, it should say something similar to M135/1234. The numbers after the M135, M211, etc. will be your VIN.
That is my understanding as well. The master cylinder I am replacing on my truck had a check valve in it. One off of a parts truck did not have one.
The airpak does have a check valve and it was the seal in front of that, that was bad on mine. Not sure if it is because of doubled up check...
