Rusty,
Belay my last PM ... this is too important to wait until Wednesday.
The oil passage from the oil pump to the oil filter housing is machined rather than cast; its sides are a smooth finish.
The diameter is 11/16 inch.
This oil passage extends 1 7/16th inch into the block. It is...
I think the limiting factor would still be the ID of the pumps. You can only get just so much liquid through a 3/8 hole.
Thanks guys, I have a couple good pumps. When you bob a Deuce using a M105 bed, you gotta pull the tank to get at the pumps. There are other external pumps out there...
Well ... I guess I didn't.
I did some searching and found a number of guys gave this one (or similar) a thumbs up: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sgt-sp1174
So I bought two of them, one for each tank.
Everything seems to be OK when running on flat land, but up here in the hills of Georgia...
I know this is an old thread.
Are cheap group 27 or 31's from Walmart still the best idea for an M35a2?
EDIT:
Wow ... is THIS thread in the wrong place.
I was doing a search for batteries and this thread came up.
Could a mod move it over to the proper place?
Thanks
More stuff:
The thickness of the Oil Cooler and Oil Filter Housing where the oil inlet hole passes through is 3/8".
The outside wall thickness appears to be about 1/4".
I can insert an object (a socket) roughly the diameter of the inlet hole about 2 inches before I begin to touch a wall.
I...
Always to help out. ESPECIALLY if there's a chance this can be done. I appreciate any knowledge about hydraulic fittings you can bring to the table.
This won't be a real easy job to do ... its a bit of wrench-turning to get this thing off. Not complicated ... just a bit of work. But the pay...
A bit more than an inch. When I made that rig up, I got in the "zone" and was doing a bunch of stuff at once ... I honestly don't think I even noticed what size they were. It's a hunk of old black pipe, I just cut it up on the lathe.
I took the low road. I thought they might be a little...
I did mine just a little differently.
There was plenty of room in the spot I mounted the filter unit, so I linked the two filter bases with a 4" nipple. I also thought a bleed valve was a good idea. I kinda ran out of money, so I leave out the pressure gauges until I build up reserves of cash...
More pictures of the Oil Cooler and Oil Cooler Housing. The bend at the front of the filter housing where the oil enters it might be something to consider.
There are 2 by-pass valves in the housing. One is there in case of plugged oil filters, the other is in the...
No. Drilling a another hole toward the lower portion of the center post in the filter assemblies will not help build oil pressure faster during starting. The filters have to be filled before you can make oil PRESSURE. A quick test would be to remove one of the filters, start the engine and...
If the topic of this thread is “How to come up with a way to stop oil draining back into the crankcase when the engine is turned off” ... here are some pictures I think will help. (Those following along at home may want to get a look at TM 9-2815-210-34-2-1, pages 3-41 & 3-59.)
This is the...
Removed the fuel tank ... and the rest of the fuel system, including lines, all the way up to the IP.
Then installed a new tank screen (made from a VW Beetle oil filter), an external fuel pump, rerouted the lines down the drive side of the truck, to a new spin-on water separator/ fuel filter...
As long as folks don't start going crazy or think its going to cure low oil pressure caused by worn out engine bearings or other internal problems, I can't see where a little more oil pressure could hurt. Just go a little at a time.
As I said before, TM 9-2815-210-34-2-2 has quite a bit of...
When I was racing MGB's there was a mod in the MG competition manual. A couple shims would be placed between the spring and the cap to increase spring tension. The modification worked so well on the track, I ended up doing it to all my street MGB's.
To do this project, I have used
One - Wix 24309 filter base for the first water separator/fuelfilter
Two - Wix 24770 or Carquest 89770 filter bases for the last two filters
I used the following filters:
Primary Fuel Filter SPIN-ON water separator. Carquest...
Truly, it does. Upon starting the oil does FLOW to all the places you mentioned, but not under pressure. Until the oil fills all the places in the engine it needs to fill, INCLUDING the filters, you won't build the PRESSURE necessary to lube the various bearings. The proof of this is the oil...
