I GOT IT!!!
This subject has been a bone of contention since the first guy cut the last four feet offen a deuce and a half.
WE'LL JUST PULL A BAG OVER IT.
Here's the latest bobbed deuce car-cover and urban camo:

Me and Henry made it home with the take-out engine from Andy's Deuce just before 1700. About 300 miles out and back, no problems except for very bad directions on the way out, and traffic jams on the way back.
My directions for the front part of the trip were SSSSoooooo bad, I actually got 2...
Also check to see if you have a riveted connection that has come loose in the light housings. A while back my flashers started giving me the same type problems. I took my housing apart and found so many loose connections that I took ALL of the the light housings off the truck, drilled out ALL...
Can you break that count down into:
1. Vehicles that were running when they arrived and when they left.
2. Vehicles that were running when they arrived but NOT running when they left.
3. Vehicles that were NOT running when they arrived but running when they left.
4. Vehicles that were...
Sorry to have to bug out yesterday (1300, Sat., 11 Oct.) before seeing the replacement engine run.
That last I saw the engine was in and pretty near ready to start.
Anybody that wasn't there missed some of the most amazing crane ops I ever saw. 73m819 makes a crane dance like a 65 pound...
I was leaving for home sitting at a stop sign when part of the convoy came high-ballin' back from the bbq. I've not seen that many MV's in a line pounding that hard in a VERY long time. It was an amazing and emotional sight for me ... and Henry both. It was all I could do to reign in the old...
Plus 1. Learn to use google or bing for your searches. I would use something like "deuce lock out hub Steel Soldiers" when looking for something. It really helps to use the site name.
My truck is a bobbed deuce and I burn WMO fuel. I purchased and de-splined a set of hubs a while back. I also installed bronze bushings (found them on ebay) and grease fittings in the caps. De-splining the hubs serves to reduce the drag of the tires in turns caused by the ackerman angle...
Its been a while ... just checking to see if there are any new wrinkles and everything is still on.
I hope Andy hasn't succumbed to OD paint withdrawals.
THAT is a GREAT thread with a lot of very import and useful information. Somehow I had missed it before. I learned a great deal from it.
Thank you for bringing it up, and a belated thank you to everyone who contributed to it.
I've been trying to remember which compressors were used on Fords in that time frame. I think they may have been Yorks ... but I'm gonna have to look that up.
If you ever come accross that rebuild you did, or similar, maybe you could grab the make and model number of the compressor.
I'm very sure that you do. Recently I've been doing a lot of reading about cam shaft failures in multi-fuel engines.
In almost every thread, the owner has said almost the very same thing.
+1. Regardless of good or bad maintenance, parts do fail. Some stuff just breaks. Good maintenance...
I don't know how computer friendly Joe is ... he's REAL shy about putting up a website ... or even selling on ebay.
His store is located on that little triangle of property where East Church St., East Spring St. and Burnt Mountain Road all come together. Over by Walgreens, Rite Aid Pharmacy...
