This unit has found a new home. We've placed it in the National United States Armed Forces Museum, over on Wallisville Road. (nusafm.org) So come on by and see it, and the other great displays they have.
Well..... You see...... There we go....... I'm an old fart and couldn't/Can't even remember WHAT I've already done with the vehicle/trailer. They say that your memory is the 3rd thing to go after your wallet, and your sanity when dealing with mv's right????
Now...... what were we talking about...
Am up here at MVPA, in Kentucky. Had to replace all tires on ours. Not sure if we stayed with original size or not. (pretty sure we did). But we had the hardest time finding someone who STOCKED them. Then we found a tire shop that specialized in Odd Ball tires etc. The other problem was the fact...
Keep us updated. Will be interested to see how that project with the paint works out. We just went ahead and used in the rattle can. Not really disappointed with the result. The paint has a thicker consistency than regular rattle can paint. Holds up to abuse better as well.
And here's a pict of our Army Field M-Gator, with the Warn Winch on the front. Keep in mind some M-Gators were set up for the winch, and some weren't. Those that were, have a socket in the glove box on the passenger's side. Our Garrison M-Gator was NOT set up for a winch.
Re do is now finished. We replaced the lights on the ROPS, (roll bar), New Head lights, New Fire Extinguisher and Mount. Got all new Warning Decals from Dealership, Originally we had "Sgt. Manning and M-Sales" on the front plastic fenders, using vinyl lettering which flaked off. This time we...
Here is a very good picture of an EARLY U.S.M.C. M-Gator, probably a prototype, with winch. I will check and see if I have a decent picture of the Winch on ours.
2nd thought......... on the bed. Are you sure "BUBBA" changed out that bed and not Uncle Sammie's kiddos? There are many many pictures of M-Gators with various parts from regular gators on them in the field. Wheels/Tires, Beds. etc.
Ditto what dougco1 said. This is the problem with M Gators...... John Deere is the only one with parts, and they are VERY proud of them. I just grit my teeth, whimper a little, and look at the John Deere Service Rep, and say "Fix It".
What parts are you looking for? I made a half assed attempt to contact the manufacturer when I first got ours, looking for a replacement top. Got no where, and decided to have one custom made. Was not exact, and was not cheap. I can only imagine things haven't changed. Hey MWMULES, just saw your...
UPDATE ON THIS THREAD: Well,,,, it's been 3 years and Carlos has used this Gator, as was intended. He recently moved and remarried. Aaaaand his loving new bride made some comments about condition. Paint was peeling, etc. Also, he informed me there was a overheating issue. So we swapped out...
I have NEW information on this subject. Have been in touch with one of the military contractors of the gun mounts for ATV's and Hummwv's. They have opened their business sales to Private MV owners, so I asked them about mounts for the M-Gator. Their response was: "The U.S. ARMY did for a time...
Speaking of expensive distractions. Here is the 2nd Gator sitting on IT'S brand new trailer. (Well it will share with it's brother when neccessary). The Garrisson Gator we have loaned to Carlos, needs to go into the shop for some issues, sooooo, we're gonna do a swap, so that Carlos will have a...
In one of my other threads for the M-Gators (I think?) I posted some pictures of other 6 wheeled UTV's with the mounts in place. In some cases they mounted Russian Recoilless Rifles in the back bed, and others they have mounted LMG's on a swing arm mount on the passenger side. The mounts were a...
You are asking questions that been asked by everyone on this website who ever owned or owns a Military Vehicle. The M-Gators are obviously worth whatever someone else is willing to pay for them. I would hazard a guess that it would be difficult to find a collector who would want to pay more than...
Unfortunately, the only source we have found in rebuilding our M-Gators, was John Deere it'self. Haven't found any kind of after market or used parts sources.
Regretfully, nothing has changed in status. Our primary use intent, and user plan, fell through. They were offered Surplussed USMC LAV's and South African Wheeled APC's (Ratel's?) So they didn't need our's. Also, the shop where we have the vehicle located, has been socked in with Contractual...
