Cat has comeout with a desiel over electric D7 dozer. got to try one out and you can't stall the tracks. it takes some getting use to, but it will do the owrk of a D8 with 30% less fuel.
agreed on the common cat key. They just have to find the switch. So if they are not in the trades, and if they don't know about it, they likelyhood of them having one I think is pretty slim, but I still like your handy work.
nice job.
When I get my duece, I plan on installing a Cat master switch on it. All the cat tractors have one stashed away somewhere on the machine. some are by the batteries, some are under a little panel, some are in the engine compartment.
They all take the same key, but it gives you the ability to...
I helped with a recovery of a friends duece last week.
We picked it up, it started and drove off the lot as it was in good running condition. He drove it off base then we stopped for fuel. I got in and he followed in the chase truck. 200 miles later we stopped for fuel. He had the invoice and...
there was a hard line comng from the engine compartment under the truck to a seires of hoses and the tank had a bracket that mounted it to the frame, i think behind the parking brake drum on the drive shaft behind the cab and fuel tank. there was about 3 or 4 air lines running around there...
there is an airtank under the truck, behind the transmission inbetween the frame rails. About the size of a fire extinguisher. right above the drive shaft.
Can anyone tell me what this tank is for? is for the CTIS, trans or brakes?
I was having a hard time chasing down all the lines and...
there are different types of "block heaters". some warm the oil through the dipstick hole other are placed inline in the heather hoses and act like a coffee pot and warm the cooling system.
The thing that makes starting in cold weather easier, is the thinning of the oil. The oil will thicken...
I did a search and nothing came up, but I also looked for a thead I started and it didn't come up so maybe it just doesn't like me....
But as I look to get a truck or 2 or 3 i fugure having spare parts is a good thing. And I see parts, likemfuel pumps and starters on auctions, but they don'...
I've seen most of the threads. But i wasn'tzure what most guys did. I don't care for the look of the trailerbeds. So I plan on cutting down the bed. Until I get the truck in front of me and a tape in my ha d to see what looks about right, i think its gonna be tuff to tell. But it was talk of a...
when figuring out the placement of the rear axel on a bobbed project, i wouls assume, that if you use a trailer bed, you try to get it lined up witht he wheel well from the trailer.
However, if you are going to cut down the bed, what do most guys do? do you just drop the rear axel so as not...
trying to up armor a 1009 is tough as they were never intended for that. Once upon a time we use to put sandbags on the floor of the Jeeps we had for added protection. But jeeps were not designed to be armored troop transports either.
but having an up armored truck is different from an APC...
Talked with the secretary ofnstates office today, will have a meeting with their legislative people either tommorow or friday.
They are interested in the topic.
We'll see what they say.
Emanndo -- your are confusing plating/registration with drivers licensing.
The registration deals with the plating of the vehicles and those fees. the operational asspects of driving a truck are different.
If you drive a 900 series you would have to get a class B endorsement. My D class DL...
thought of that, the restriction will be for "personal use" and not commercial. Have the same issue with farm plates and we can copy that language. Use it for "other thatn person use" i.e. commercial venture, or agriculture as a way of getting aorund the tags, your out of classification...
Since this bug has bitten pretty hard, I've been checking into insurance with my agent, bid on ovwr a dozen trucks at GL-- got zero.
And have been penciling mods and ideas.
The Texas FMV law thread caught my eye along with some stuff about titlig the trucks. So I called the Secretary of...
