All-
I picked thos old girl up from @timntrucks today.
Super clean radio, came with the backpack, 2 antennas, (the short "blade" one and the folding 10') and one that looks like the old spout of an old oil can spout (if you're old enough to remember those):
(At least I **think** thats...
Here's what I did bud, I knew I had pics... 🤦♂️
The non reversible connectors so I didn't hook them up backward:
Mounted the box just outside of my battery box:
And I can deploy the solar panel when convenient and store when not in use to minimize risk of damage:
I didn't hard mount mine. I used non reversible connectors to make it to where I could disconnect the panel , mounted the box behind my seat (I have a 5 ton) and stow the charger while I'm driving and set it up wither on my roof or hood when parked to charge the batteries.
I just went down a rabbit hole reading about "Return of the Living Dead" and found out this neat tidbit:
The story's featured "2-4-5 Trioxin" chemical developed by the "Darrow Chemical Company" for the military was a play on the real-life Dow Chemical Company and its involvement in the 1960s...
Great movie! As a young lad of 12-13, that was my first experience of seeing the unclothed female anatomy in a movie theater with an adult present. (Yes that's the memory that sticks out!)
I also remember the sheer dread of watching the zombies just... keep... going.....
Good way to find out your vehicle belonged to a little boy named Timmy and escaped one day while the gate was left open and they've been looking for her!
I don't own a CUCV, but it **did** install the backup camera from Those Military Guys in my 5 ton and love it. It's not a hard install.
It says for HMMV etc but it's a 24v system and it's been rock solid for me. I use it to back up and as a rear view mirror.
Those Military Guys Camera setup
Sorta confused...
So... the truck has been bought at auction and is physically located in Phoenix. You are also in AZ as you are TDY.
You need the VIN verification completed in AZ so you can take the paperwork to the FL. DMV to register the truck?
If that's the case, why not sell the truck to...
My g/f kid is the same way... as much as he's on his phone you'd think every pic would be a masterpiece.
Nope.... half the time heads are cut off or the most important piece of the action is missing.
The solenoid is run with the "Master Power" switch on the MRAP. That's probably so a private won't accidentally leave the IR lights on and drain the battery. If the master switch is off, the lights won't get any juice.
I by passed it by removing the solenoid and moving the power wire directly...
I bought one from @Csm Davis for my 5 ton and I don't regret it. I mounted the "box" with velcro behind my passenger seat in the cab.
Rather than hard mount my panel to the roof, I left it loose so I can place it for maximum sun exposure
And to facilitate storing (I have a box I put it in...
