I didn't hard mount mine. I used non reversible connectors to make it to where I could disconnect the panel , mounted the box behind my seat (I have a 5 ton) and stow the charger while I'm driving and set it up wither on my roof or hood when parked to charge the batteries.

I don't own a CUCV, but it **did** install the backup camera from Those Military Guys in my 5 ton and love it. It's not a hard install. It says for HMMV etc but it's a 24v system and it's been rock solid for me. I use it to back up and as a rear view mirror. Those Military Guys Camera setup

My g/f kid is the same way... as much as he's on his phone you'd think every pic would be a masterpiece. Nope.... half the time heads are cut off or the most important piece of the action is missing.

The solenoid is run with the "Master Power" switch on the MRAP. That's probably so a private won't accidentally leave the IR lights on and drain the battery. If the master switch is off, the lights won't get any juice. I by passed it by removing the solenoid and moving the power wire directly...

I bought one from @Csm Davis for my 5 ton and I don't regret it. I mounted the "box" with velcro behind my passenger seat in the cab. Rather than hard mount my panel to the roof, I left it loose so I can place it for maximum sun exposure And to facilitate storing (I have a box I put it in...
