So I am trying to remember who here had a thread that talked about fooling the battery sensor. I have never had mine do that (not using the battery pack issued, but two battery's). I have used it in temps around 25-30 and not had it refuse to start. Let me do some more digging.
Did you count the number of beeps with the error light and cross check what the machine is telling you? The error codes are on the back of the control box if I remember correctly, but definitely in the TM. What temp was it that you were trying to start it in?
I would suggest posting this in the FMTV forum and you will get a much better response regarding this heater. What truck model and year is this from? Was this added by the previous owner, or did it come on there from the military? @Guyfang can you move this over please?
Not sure if they had any map/orienteering this day as it is a huge bunch of kids for about 5-6 hours, but his unit did have a weekend course for using good old fashion compass for navigation they would put on right after school starts in the fall. They do an overnight in the foothills in the...
This week, I cleaned up and serviced a couple of spare MBU's but the real fun happened today. Although my son has since graduated (2022), I still drag my MKT out and cook lunch for his former JROTC unit (CA-901) for their annual Fun Olympics. This event draws 8-12 local high school ROTC units...
My 2 cents...if money is not that much of an issue, buy the NOS harness. That seller is on here and a huge contributor to the forum. Why try and make a splice, when you will probably spend less time installing a harness? Keep us posted.
Are you missing rivets in the lights? You don't need to remove the rivets to service the marker lights. The outside cover has two screws and then the light itself just twists out of the cover.
Remember, all it takes is two bidders who both want the same item to make it get stupid. Unfortunately, I think the whole covid thing opened the door to the gov auctions and now there are a lot more people getting into buying stuff, plus the auctions are online so folks can bid from anywhere in...
The replica tubs for 1/4 ton trailers (M416. M100, Bantam) were for the slightly small M100 and bantams. Nobody has had complete M416 tubs for sale (believe me I looked all over). There was a company that I cannot recall that did make the panels that you could weld together, but I believe they...
The shocks are easy to remove from the airbag and installation is not bad. When I replaced the airbags on mine there were no shocks available at the time. I got lucky and found my shocks were still in decent shape, so I just installed them in the new airbags. There is just a pin holding the...
My son installed one of these on the firewall in the engine bay on his M1028. Plenty of options and good quality.

How much work do you want to put into it and how much shorter are you talking about? If you disassemble the jack, you will probably have to shorten the outside tube, the inside tube and the screw that moves it up and down. If you don't mind the fab work, it can be done.
I am not a deuce guy, but you will find a vast amount of knowledge and personal experience here. First, go to the TM section and download all of the manuals for your truck. Start familiarizing yourself with the material. The military wrote them and the troubleshooting parts for 18-year-old kids...
Watch out!!!! Before long you will want another one! Ask how many of us here only have one. Besides what better than to have a parts machine ready to support the main one. Its an addiction thing
