I think it depends on how much your expecting to draw from the 12 volt side. If your going to run just a CB radio, then I would consider just tapping a line from the ground battery to a 12 volt fuse box. If you going to run a full stereo system with amps and subs then you will need to go...
I've heard of this guy, he's been building that tank for sometime. Was into Jeeps and trucks, then decided to try his hand at tanks. Also heard he has been scavenging parts from all over the place, a small fortune invested.
Really is a shame to see it back fire like that, not nice ruining...
I'd pull it apart to see what broke, before ordering parts. It could just be a busted shaft. To get the axle shafts out is an hours work to do both sides.
I've learned my share the hard way:)
So I'm making my way through now. I have most of what I set out to accomplish underway in some shape or form. I'm still waiting for my clutch parts to come in. After that it should be smooth sailing all the way to the finish line. Most of these pictures are older, I'll take some new ones...
As I put my truck back together after the head gasket job, I'm sure to make repairs where ever I find the need.
This past weekend I went ahead and fixed up my Radiator. It had completely rotted out on the lower mounting bolts. So I cut, welded up some new studs on some flat bar. Then painted...
I'm on the up swing now. Heads are on, turbo and manifolds are back on, new rear main seal installed, airshift t-case installed and plumbed, Pyro and boost are partially installed, Fly wheel has been resurfaced, fire wall painted, all the intake parts painted also.
I'll post some pictures up...
HEMTT or MRAP rims. I ran the same tires on my stock rims for about a year. The tires will also hit the shock mounts if turned the opposite direction. If they contact the sharp corner of the shock mounts the tire is toast. Adjust the steering stops, you will need longer bolts.
Then upgrade...
when I overhauled my system I switched to DOT 3. Just because I had a bunch sitting around. I just flushed really well. I've had no trouble since, I bleed the brakes every ounce and awhile.
This is really nice work. It's funny because I had planned to do the very same thing, right down to where you mounted them. I was going to use one long light but it looks like you already did that research. The only thing I was thinking of adding on was a very modest piece of sheet metal...
Shark bait has it right. The trailer is immobilized. There is even a tire and rim sitting on the ground. Unloading it from the back of the trailer was not an option, most likely because of the soft shoulder of the road and cliff. I see desperation and recklessness in attempt to save the dozer...
From what I've gathered the LDS engines out of the 5ton trucks have parts that can be used on the LDT's for marginal power increases. IP, turbo, etc.
The port and polish type stuff might just be splitting hairs on these engines and not worth the time.
They will never be a power house, but in...
When I bought my truck off of a private seller I was able to drive it home as the truck didn't look to be in terrible condition.
It wasn't until a few weeks later that I got into an assessment of the truck mechanically. What I saw when I pulled the drums off gives me nightmares to this day, If...
Newport Washington huh....that's just down the road from me. Sorry to see this sort of thing happen.
If Gimpy passes on the potential sale of parts off this motor, I'd be more than happy to give you money to help ease the burden of the cost of a replacement motor. The injectors, IP fuel...
