What does the M37 bed weigh?

Since kendelrio is endeavoring to weigh various M37 body parts, please remember to adjust for rust, lack of rust, missing fasteners or not, multiple coats of paint, flaking paint, fuel tank access panel, aux power port, etc. We expect precision and completeness. ;) As for me, a couple of...

M-37 exhaust and intake manifold design

If I understand your question, the nut should go on like a castellated nut. I'm getting close to the limit of my competence, though, so if someone else can confirm or correct, please do.

M-37 exhaust and intake manifold design

On our recent rebuild, we used "Permatex Thread Sealant with PTFE." Can't help with the helicoil situation...never had to use one. We put the 4 brass spacers (2 each) on the exhaust manifold studs at each end. The black clamping washers hold both the intake and exhaust manifolds together...

What does the M37 bed weigh?

I've pulled mine for repair. At the shop two of us were able to maneuver (not lift) it by hand. If it were mine, I'd give the 500 lb hoist a try. It'll either lift it or not...

Good, Cheap, Fast - Pick one (M37 Rebuild)

Thanks for posting. As someone who is deep into rebuilding my truck, your cost estimate seems reasonable. What I will add is to be very, very careful in giving your truck over to some of the vendors who advertise rebuilding/restoration services. They will likely take years (yes, much more...

    Truck recommendations/advice thread - M916/M920?

I would say the M920 prices reflect the practical considerations that I enumerated. On our M920, we fitted a used commercial 5th wheel. I don't recall that we had to do any special modifications. If you have access to a civilian truck, just take some comparison measurements. You can also look...

    Truck recommendations/advice thread - M916/M920?

The two models are similar. My experience is with the M920. An important issue with military trucks in general is their weight which directly affects how much total weight you can legally haul. The M920 weighs in at about 30,000 pounds (an average civilian tractor with sleeper weighs around...

My M37 can use a couple at some time in the near (I hope!) future.

    M920 - will this starter work: Delco Remy 8200287 39MT 12V

And a follow-up.... A few years back, we pulled the engine with all of its accessories from a scrapped M920 and dropped it into an International 2574 which is a 12V truck. I don't recall that we replaced the starter. Check your TM for the M920. The starter may already be 12V.

    M920 - will this starter work: Delco Remy 8200287 39MT 12V

I don't have an exact answer to your question, except as a former M920 owner. I think the new starter will work just fine so long as it bolts up, and the Bendix/pinion length is the same as the original. Placing them side by side on the bench should confirm. I recall that the engine is...

New member with a few questions

Welcome to the hobby. It's a lot of fun, spare parts availability is generally good, and there's a lot of help out there. If there is a local club, I suggest checking that out. Most of the guys are more than happy to help. As to your issue, the post by WWRD99 above is on point. I've always...

    Freight Shipping

My experience has been that the main concerns by the carrier are how to unload palletized freight as well as access issues within a residential area. I've used equipment dealers (John Deere, etc)--it obviously helps if you already have a business relationship, but that's not always necessary--...

    Behind the dash harness routing

Great looking truck. Mine's down to the bare chassis, and I'm getting ready to paint. Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but I'm attaching 3 photos. I can get more for you, If you need. BTW, I responded to your post on G741.org, but it seems the moderator is a bit behind in approving my post.

    MULTIFUEL HARD / NO START

Ten gallons isn't much for the truck after it has made its way through the lines and filters. It may be below the pickup line. Is it possible that the truck is merely out of fuel? Before doing a deep dive, it may be easier to add more fuel and bleed the system again.

    M1078 GVWR Over the Road

In my experience, what the officers told you is correct. That is, you tell the DMV the weight to register for the maximum gross weight. Then they charge you fees accordingly and issue the registration. I believe that their thinking is that, because of the extremely large number of...

    Spring clip plate

Hello all, Does the hook-shaped attachment to the plate spring clip which joins the spring U bolts have any function? I can't seem to find any information in the manuals, though the graphics show the part clearly. Thank you for your help.

    M37 clutch/brake pedal shaft

This is admittedly a bit specialized, and maybe even obscure, but I thought I'd post my experience in the possibility that someone may find it helpful. I was getting ready to paint the bare chassis. Even though everything except the springs and axles had been removed, the clutch and brake...

    Virginia MSMVs?

And to be clear, use the VSA 17A which is the standard Virginia application for title and registration. Hope that helps.

    Virginia MSMVs?

Depends on the DMV agent whether he or she will work from the title. On the registration application, I think you'd be OK to leave the model blank and just put SUV in the body type. Or go ahead and put CUCV in the model block.... The DMV likely doesn't know what that is specifically, probably...

MV of the month October 2023

There are some really cool trucks posted, but you'll have to admit that my submission must win the prize this month .Yes, the M37 arctic version with 3 gas heaters is something of a work in progress and may seem a bit bare, but can you really deny its beauty?
