I had the same thing happen when I went to register my 5 ton two weeks ago. The deuce never raised a flag and I paid the normal tax and tag fees this year. Nothing certain in life but death and taxes!!!
On some of these trucks, there is something similar to a PCB for 5 tons. It's a simple solenoid and is normally the first to blow in the event that something arced. It's located at the rear of the battery box just outside under it's own cover. I've only had to replace one. When it goes, the...
We can do it together. I'm certain my CUCV is a low mileage unit and 3/4 or it's miles came under my ownership. It's still sitting on factory Firestone rubber. If we need to purchase gauges, we can both buy in and form a consensus measurement which may be helpful.
The M939's have an automatic trans and reverse is in excess of a 10 to 1 ratio with 685 ft lbs or torque. I think I can see why the transfer case may have issues when engaged in low range on a truck that is trying to move against locked brakes or a heavy load. The A2's made around 750 ft lbs...
When the ABS light stays on, that indicates a fault with the ABS system. The brakes should still work fine but will not have protection from locking up. I've driven a few with that light on and never had any trouble. The Military installed ABS on these trucks to solve a peculiar problem...
These worked good when I had my Deuce!!! Firestone T831's. My friend has the Goodyear G177's on his Deuce. They are nice tires as well and will probably outlast the truck. They seem to be a better highway tread but the Firestone's are great when the road turns to dirt and much.
I tow these trucks quite regularly. I use an M1089A1P2 so I utilize the lift tow option exclusively. They will track just fine using a towbar but it's too much trouble going through the serpentine created by the barriers to get on post. If I'm only going the 10 or so miles from the training...
You're likely correct. I've got an GEM Cart assigned to me and only drive the Jeep when the weather is good as it has no top or doors. Nobody has asked about the Jeep in forever and I park it in a dehumidified warehouse. I would ask the higher ups if it's on the property book and it's...
Awesome, The M151 is my favorite of all of the old jeeps. I have one at work that I drive occasionally and I hope to have my own one day!!! I'll add some pictures of it tomorrow as they are on my work computer.
PB,
I would love for Proud American to be in the Parade. Do I need to have a Shore Power hookup and wiring installed for the camper? I'll try to be a gracious host. I can even come get the truck the weekend before if that helps. Tony can still drive along with Bear in the Parade!
Folks, Thankfully it is that time of year again. I've got to turn in my entry for the Leesburg, GA, Spirit of Christmas Parade by the 15th of November. The event is for the 5th of December and so far I've got 4 M35A2's and an M1028. I might get lucky and get a detail of National Guardsmen...
PB,
I'm unable to make it this year as I have Drill the 12th through 15th in November. Lee and the boy's may still ride up and enjoy the fellowship with the group. I wish the dates would have fell differently but maybe I can make it to eat for Christmas.
