I'll nominate my friend Atomic's Deuce and a Half. It's a work in progress but see attached for how it appeared in the Leesburg Christmas Parade. This should be a good nomination. Russ has attended the last 5 GA Rally's and mostly helps Mark and Jeff on the trail rides. His truck finally got...
Actually looking at the polls, my Deuce is beating Steve6X6X6's A3 bobbed Deuce and I've seen his truck quite a few times in person. Very nice truck with some outstanding work done to it. He's the man when it comes to axle parts, custom fabrication, etc. His truck is in one of those...
I thought I was going to start that support group a few months ago. I had entered my pristine original M1028 that had spent most of it's life in Norway in a dehumidified cave. Even today it only has 6,700 miles on it. Search "NOS USMC" in the CUCV Section of the forum. I think that my stuck...
They are all outstanding and the polls are very close. If you look earlier in the thread, you'll see why I voted for Proud American. I'm friends in person with the two top runners and I know I'll see them both before and after the GA Rally this go around. I had the opportunity to sign the...
I'm not sure on the Civi side of it but what I do know is that on the Military side, you can't even drive a M1089 or M984 series truck without having H8 stamped on your license. You only get that by attending a Wonderful 2 week course spent swimming in mud, making winch connections and being...
If you have no bubbles, you need to adjust your brakes. They are not self adjusting. There are four cam bolts on the backing plate that you use to adjust. The two up top are your ¨major adjustment¨ and the two on the bottom are your ¨minor adjustment¨. Please look in the TM's or search on...
I've never had too much trouble with these engines in my experience as a mechanic in the National Guard. Biggest issues we have are starter solenoids, HEUI pumps (caused by clogged fuel tank vents starving the pump for fuel, scores the inside of the housing), Injector tips (that's caused by...
PB, I need about 25 votes just to break even with 67beast's entry. I think I know who is going to win this month and it is a very nice truck!!! Perhap's I can vote on the last day for the Winner and do a fistbump with Lee!!!
I have hauled alot of stuff off of the base and parked it in my front yard. Hoefler is correct that cops where involved in the recovery of his trailer but only because it was rebuilt and the local cops thought that I had ¨stolen¨ something off of the base. It actually went from the local cops...
This is my truck doing everything from doing excavation work, parade duty, earning it's keep pulling LVS Trailers, attending GA Rallies, teaching my boy's how to change a master and air pack, Funeral Procession duty behind the Patriot Guard Riders, Veterans Day Parade Duty, and lastly, Dec 23rd...
PB, I'll go with this picture. It was taken at SSGR10' and Briggs was just over a year old and Joey had celebrated his 3rd Birthday just weeks earlier. They are 6 and 8 now. Man how time flies. I agree that the picture of me changing the master cylinder out is a good one because you can't...
I know in the National Guard, your truck would be considered dead lined until we could put some newer rubber on it. You might get lucky with them on the rear but I would not suggest running those on your steer axle.
My CUCV will start in 13 degree weather at a bump of the starter. I run AC60G's and I have gotten rid of the resistor behind the air cleaner housing and routed the feed wire to the 12V bus bar as outlined in the Doghead Bypass sticky. I went through the headache of removing swollen plugs 2...
My C is tight bearing wise. It's a good audible sound to let you know when you're in the throttle or coasting which comes in handy when going through hills. Since I don't have a pyro yet, I charge towards the bottom and taper the throttle towards the top when I running through those!! The C...
I sent my good take off D up the road in exchange for a C Turbo. Best modification I could have done to the truck. I'll add that the muffler I added does drown out the bark but the whistle is still there and sounding fantastic!!! Yes, I do take long trips with it. 180 miles each way when...
I would imagine it likely mixed. Have you ever looked at a thermostat for one of these trucks? I have no idea how it works coming from a light truck and automotive background but it looks like it would work about as good as a screen door on a submarine as far as keeping water from flowing...
vtdeucedriver, I've already made my vote but I do appreciate seeing your truck in the running. Your truck smoked my CUCV in May. I love reading stories of Trucks that served in Vietnam but I am certainly somewhat biased towards ¨Proud American¨ , not only because I have driven it a few times...
