M931A2
I insured it thru Hagerty yesterday for $298.
Never used them before, phone call was uncomplicated and fairly quick, although I don't believe they're actually insuring the truck I think they're the middleman, just like when Progressive uses Artisans insurance .
Matters none to me .
Also...
Having done much axle work over the years I can tell you this:
Moog and TRW are both chinee junk at this point unless you just happen upon some old stock .
Spicer parts are what you want, they make "lifetime U-joints" that I recommend, and the original spicer parts in the red/white boxes are...
Sounds like you have a short on that side, so it is a supply problem if you asked the bulb .
Which is dimmer the front or the rear ?
Whichever is dimmer your short is on that end .
You can also feel for some heat in the wire, whichever one is warmer is going to be where your problem is, if...
Like the one guy said take a medium Sledge and give that lock ring some love all the way around, it likes where it's been it may have been sitting on there for 50 years and stuck and does not like change
Some PB Blaster or some other Lube in there wouldn't hurt either
It's not an airplane it...
There's no end to how far you could go with this or how heavy duty you can make it, and while you're doing it you'll think of six or seven different ways to do it better/stronger/simpler and more neato
It's an old Jeep it probably weighs all of a ton, so unless you're going to start doing this...
Took the old truck on down to the local Dept. of Forestry and got it inspected, stickered and ready for another fire season .
1963 Studebaker M50 has been a water truck it's entire life, everybody loves it and so do I, getting paid to drive it and allow it to continue to do what it was born to...
Are you in low range ?
It won't go into reverse if you're in low range ...
It also won't go into reverse if it THINKS you're in low range, in other words if the lockout pieces that were junky when they were made but now have 17 coats of paint and rust on them are malfunctioning or stuck, it...
I can't even fathom in getting an insurance company involved in something like this when parts for these trucks are cheap and plentiful and they are easy to work on .
For many years I have said that trickle chargers kill batteries I've seen it and they just do it even when they don't blow up...
From what I can see it looks like you're showing your front drive line coming off the front of your T-case and heading to your front axle
There is another style of PTO that is integrated into the transfer case that supplies power to the to the rear of the truck where the water pump sits on a...
Started having trouble with State Farm about the same time the other Jake took over, I'm sure it's just a coincidence, but either way they were doing less for me and charging more and they wouldn't insure my Deuce water truck for any reason in the world .
So after a bit I dumped them and went...
Right, so here is what I'm trying to say, according to that dipstick, which "probably" is the right dipstick for the truck, you're at the full mark .
Let some oil out to the add Mark and see if it makes any difference, I have seen the wrong dipstick in engines before and I have seen engines...
20" x 39.75"
That's the measurement of the expanded metal mesh that covers the front, if you need more than that or clear out to the headlights or whatever just holler I've got one sitting here (obviously)
This truck is an M931A2 but I spect its the same
if
Have you had the truck a long time and this is something that's recently developed ?
Drain your oil down to the add mark on the dipstick (it won't hurt anything they have plenty of oil) and see if it makes any difference
Have no idea how much a shop would charge you to change a rear main seal...
