Like the 831 the 802 can generate it's own 24 volts with the alternator. An 802 will run without batteries. They are only needed to start it or 24 volts in thru the slave port to get it started.
The minor hitch is the alternators exciter will need 24 volts momentarily to get it generating 24...
You are correct, there is no typical circuit breaker on the 831 for the power to the lugs.
The inverter monitors the current load on L1 & L2 coming out of the inverter.
If the current monitor detects current in excess of the rated current it causes the contactor to open.
There isn't any way to...
Did it work previously for you?
Are the batteries charged?
Is the main circuit breaker ON by the batteries?
Circuit Breaker #7 in the Relay Panel RP201 powers the "control box" DCS". Is it tripped or missing?
In general motor driven items draw about 4X the nameplate current at startup until they get up to speed. That high startup current is what's tripping the 831.
You can use Parttarget.com to get all the PNs for or a given NSN or PN.

I tested the diodes on both of my diode boards with my Fluke. *All diodes measured about .45V and infinity (after the caps charged from my meter)
* Actually I found one of my diodes shorted.
Not fixing it. It's one of several dead inverters I have laying around here. I use it for pictures only.
The charring is from a trace that vaporized. It was the Load signal from the inverter going to the Governor Controller module.
IC's are ON Semiconductor.
Peter,
No inrush limiter. DC goes from diode bridge directly to the electrolytics.
Only other parts on the assembly besides the two disc caps are a couple of caps between the power transistors and two bleeder resisters.
I suspect it doesn't need a limiter since the PMA voltage rises as the...
