    Picked up a m915a1!

Jeeze the cab on that thing is plush. Were they all like that?

What have you done to your 10 ton this week?

D'oh! I asked this question 2 years ago. The answer is yes.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Yay an 814! Looks in great shape, even has a cab heater.

What have you done to your 10 ton this week?

Is it true that these trucks top out at 45mph?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I can't believe we didn't lose power. Power lines and trees are drooping heavily everywhere. The power surged all day, lights flickering and whatnot. The Tesla Powerwall will carry me for 24 hours if we conserve heavily. After that, it's propane heat. Temps are plunging tonight so it's not...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

A full foot of heavy, wet snow in mid/southern Md today. I do so want to try the M813 out in the snow but I'm a gutless baby. Got no winch and I'm too worried about flattening some dummy in a minivan out buying bread and toilet paper for the storm. I sat there thinking "I wonder how long...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I got to use H-L today. We got about 10" of heavy, wet snow in mid/southern MD. After clearing the drive and walkways we took the HMMWV out because...HMMWV. We shoveled all the snow on the vehicle, into the back of the vehicle with the snow that had already collected there to add more weight...

    Looking at buying a M923A2

@kendelrio I love that hard shell trailer.

    1970 5-ton 6x6 needing wiring diagram.

The circuit for the headlights should be the same between the M54 and M813 so either diagram should work. If I recall, certain common circuits share the same tag number across truck platforms. If you can just find the tag number for headlights in the diagram, you can locate those wires on the truck.

M809 Series- Rear and Intermediate axles and what to expect

I forgot you had that thing. The only thing stopping my from buying it is that I have nowhere to store it. I'd pay a fee to borrow it though. Once I have gathered all the bits to do this job, I'll be in touch.

M809 Series- Rear and Intermediate axles and what to expect

Hey all, I want to inspect the rear and intermediate brakes for leaks and check the pad wear. I haven't done it since I've owned the truck. (I did service the steering axle) I'm reading the -20 TM. I've ordered the little cork gaskets (but I'm also amenable to using a modern sealant). Page...

M813 vs m35A2 which is bigger

https://commercial.firestone.com/en-us/product/firestone/truck-and-bus/t831 Hmm. Interesting. Which of the Michelins are prone to blow outs? Was it the XZL's? Someone called them "will-pops."

M813 vs m35A2 which is bigger

I'm toying with the idea of better tires. I want to keep the duals and stay at the stock size but I'm sure there's a more modern tread out there. I don't want the G177's because I feel that they aren't aggressive enough for off-road. Decisions, decisions.

Still hunting for M813 troop seats

Let me see what it'll take to scavenge the rest of the parts. I'll need a bunch of legs and some other bits.

Still hunting for M813 troop seats

If I can point you to a brand new, fiberglass 12 foot set, would that stop you from cutting up the 14 foot set? PM sent.

Canadians! Form up! We are being attacked.

Ask your ministers if they plan on banning vintage firetrucks and other civil service vehicles from the road as well? The bottom line is, this is part of the disarming process. Mobility is part of being able to resist. We can't have that.

Still hunting for M813 troop seats

@MyothersanM1 I'd never heard of Stephan Wood. I'll check it out, thanks! Edit: Well, I know where there are brand-new, fiberglass A1 seats. As near as I can determine, they will be 2 feet short because of the 2-foot side boards that are on the drop-side bed and the uprights will not line up...

Still hunting for M813 troop seats

Gents, I'm still hunting for troop seats for a base model (fixed side bed) M813. I've had many conversations with people who claim that there's no difference between the seats for the M809 and the M939 series. I've figured out what the difference is: On the base, fixed side truck there is NO...

5 top items to check before buying a M923A2, Good +/- Price point Dec 2021

If you're doing the big cam, you should buy an M809 series unless you're really hung up on having air brakes. Yes, they are superior but I find that if you drive rationally (like you should be doing) the air over hydraulic brakes are perfectly serviceable. You can upgrade an 809 series to air...

HMMWV prices are sure coming up

"He who hesitates, is lost." Glad I got my stuff while I could afford it.
