Whew, this is fun. I'd be screwed without the diagram.
Ok, there's a short to ground on the turn signal wiring where it goes back to the driver's rear composite light. I've figured that much out.
This prevents the rear driver's brake light from lighting when the left turn signal is on because...
Usually when caliper stick, it's because the guide pins are dry and/or corroded. When you remove the calipers, put fresh grease on the guide pins. That should fix the problem. I'm referring to the pins at the top and bottom which align and guide the two halves of the caliper as they open and...
@papakb Can I please get the link to the M998 wiring diagram? I cannot seem to find it in any of the tech pubs listed on this forum.
I did find the complete M1123 wiring diagram but I'm not sure if that's close enough?
I've discovered that my driver's (left) rear turn signal does not flash...
Our M998 came in a cargo/troop configuration with blanking panels for the rear doors.
These blanking panels are the type that have the little access flap on the lower half that allows you to access the rear footwells from outside the vehicle. The truck did NOT come with the flip-down...

I'm logged in on my phone right now. Anyone else having this issue?
Ah, nice. I'll file this away. By a fluke, I found a pile of them on ebay last night. I've been checking forever and they never seemed to pop up, just the other parts. Now I have 2 complete sets.
Ok, I'll perform a detailed inspection of the lines. If I don't see any corrosion, pinches or missing supports I'll calm down about this particular concern.
A couple of simple questions:
How difficult is it to replace the hard air lines on an M813? I know that there are new, modern materials approved for highway use. Are they easier to work with than the copper lines and fittings?
Is this something that should be a preventative task? How often...
If you aired up that tire and found it deflated, the Schrader valve in the stem may be a little sticky. Some of my old ones didn't seal well until I shot a tiny dab of silicone spray into them.
Air it up and squirt the valve stem with soapy water to see if that's the problem.
Granted I'm not in -40F temps, but on days well below freezing, my M813 starts easily with the cold start system.
If I'm not mistaken, shooting fuel across that glow plug ignites the fuel to pre-warm the combustion chambers (or at least warm the air in the intake).
Tighten up your fuel system...
You need this:

Jack the truck up using its own air system (or still hand pump if the engine is inoperative). Your red jack is still plenty useful in combination with the air jack though.
Yeah, the old vents definitely stick. I went around and wiggled mine and all 3 axles "exhaled."
Big Mike's sells a different kind of vent that doesn't require plumbing vent lines. I'm unsure just how tightly they would seal during a fording excursion though...
@M51clueless Excellent, thanks for the write-up. I own an M813 with the same setup (more or less) and your lesson will help me if I find myself needing to do this. I do have the luxury of a 1-ton commercial truck transmission jack.
It's sticking a bit. Mine did this exactly once. It's why you drain the air tanks- to get moisture out of the system.
I can't say if yours is closer to failure.
