I haven't put them in my 1009s, but I just installed a floor mat from LMC in my 1028.
I took it out of the box and unrolled it out across the hood to sit in the sun for half an hour. That softens it and gets any wrinkles out. Be careful, it also gets quite hot!
Then we laid it in on the...
As an M1028A2 converted from an M1031, yes, it should have had an NP205 transfer case because it was used to run the compressor and generator in the original maintenance box.
But unless you want to run those off a PTO, or are super concerned about originality, you should do fine with the 208...
That scheme is MERDEC Summer Verdant, so it shouldn't be CARC paint.
After the mid-80s, most vehicles would have been painted in 383 camo if they got a repaint. Interesting how long MERDEC lasted on some vehicles though! My M109 and M185 are both in MERDEC and were both surplussed c.2008...
Over time I have replaced the ignition cylinders on all three of my CUCVs (two M1009s and an M1028A2).
The CUCV standard key will not turn any of the new lock cylinders I have.
All three locks came from O'Reilly Auto Parts simply because there was a store a couple of miles from where i used to...
If memory serves me, it looks very much like the flight engineer seat from a B-29. Orientation was right the first time.
The lower seat cushion could be used, or removed and it's place taken by a parachute pack.
Edit - I found the attached picture in a cockpit 360 view from the USAF museum's...
Those are actually both 5-tons. M813 on the right, and what looks like an M923 on the left.
The cab on the 939s are higher set and wider than the M813; the hood, obviously, is much larger also.
The M809 series 5-tons use the same cab as the M35 types.
The attached picture of two of my trucks...
It should stick just fine. I had truck wheels powder coated gloss black, I gave them a quick scuff with a red Scotchbright pad and painted over them with flat paint. That was 15 years ago, and the paint is still on them. ;)
Cheers
Marsh font might actually make sense from another perspective - the old stencil cutting machine I have is made by Marsh. ;)
It has the standard US military Stencil Gothic BE in it though.
Cheers
The T-37s are gone from service now, the T-6A is what replaced them.
There are three major training bases with T-6As in Texas - Randolph AFB, Sheppard AFB and Laughlin AFB.
In addition, NAS Corpus Christi operates the T-6B version, those ones are red/white as opposed to the Air Force...
Fuzzy made a good point that was implied but not expounded on previously. I think many folks just really don't fully grasp the physics involved, the forces exerted on them when things go pearshaped in a vehicle.
Many years ago when car seats for kids were a fairly new thing, we used to conduct...
The black CARC typically fades to a bluish grey, as on your truck. I've seen some touchups of black fade to almost white (I'm guessing some off the shelf spray paint was used rather than CARC proper). My Marine M813 had some that faded that way.
Love that t-shirt! :ROFLMAO:
Cheers
That's why I was hoping for something to add to my collection. Marine trucks are notoriously sterile when it comes to individual markings, but some do occasionally show up. I have examples of a few unique markings, most of which remain completely unexplained.
I also gather as many misspelled...
My personal rule in my vehicles is all riders wear a seatbelt while on the road. No belt - no ride.
The only exception is during parades, when people can ride unsecured in the backs of trucks. But no riders in the back once the speed goes above that of a leisurely stroll. At the end of the...
Everyone has an opinion, so vat der hey, I'll throw mine in the ring....
my opinion is based on 30 years as a cop in a major city, many of those as a Vehicular Homicide detective and collision reconstructionist.
In all the many hundreds of collisions I have investigated, I never saw even one...
