M1078A1 cab and chassis electrical upgrades including AC

3116 is a mechanical injection pump with the lift pump on the back of the head. 3126b and C7 have HEUI injection pumps with the lift pump driven off the back of the HEUI pump so the lines are going to be totally different length, etc. Not sure about fitting sizes but there's also a difference in...

M1078A1 cab and chassis electrical upgrades including AC

The reference to a "fuel shutoff solenoid" makes me think that was all 3116 stuff. And the 3126/C7 have different fuel systems so may or may not be applicable. Electronic engines don't have shutoff solenoids. They just cut power to the injectors when the computer loses the ignition power signal.

Hhhmmm - pop into CAT ET and see what your injection oil pressure is doing. Assuming that's good I would check the lift pump fuel pressure.

M1078A1 cab and chassis electrical upgrades including AC

I had the factory hoses copied by a local hose shop. Push-lok fittings work fine also. They are perfectly adequate for the pressures involved. Obviously the hose needs to handle diesel.

Have you replaced all your fuel lines yet? They will be rotten and could be sucking air.

Sounds like a fueling issue to me.

    CUCV Starter nightmare.....

Ok well that's what I'm going to do. Ordered these two items: https://www.aspwholesale.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=6367 https://www.aspwholesale.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=6798 We shall see how this goes.

    CUCV Starter nightmare.....

All the battery cables were thrashed on this truck - it has the big ground from the battery to the alternator bracket, and from the battery to the ground bussbar (both new) and the original ground from the bussbar to the intake manifold which I cleaned. I was wondering if I should add another...

    CUCV Starter nightmare.....

Interesting - the starter I pulled out was a 28MT but some idiot stripped the solenoid IGN stud so I pulled it out of the truck and wasn't able to disassemble the solenoid...... Did your guy mention that the 28MT is a 12v unit.... did he put a 24v solenoid on it? Admittedly the 28MT was...

    CUCV Starter nightmare.....

Both of the bolts were knurled but two different bolts - one with a flanged head and one with a loose split lock washer. Both 15mm though and the same length with knurling so I haven't sourced new ones. You should have seen the state of the transmission/install. Besides the torque converter...

    CUCV Starter nightmare.....

Someone had chopped off the starter relay connector and then butt spliced it back on but got the purple (+24v to starter solenoid) and purple/white (+12v from ignition switch) swapped. When they couldn't get the relay to work due to the miswiring they just pulled it and stuck a jumper wire into...

    CUCV Starter nightmare.....

M1009. Was in a sorry state when I got it (and still pretty rough). Hadn't run in a while. Showing 8,400 miles on the odometer. Replaced all the battery cables, rebuilt both alternators (one had a shorted regulator, the other had one brush lead that turned green and fell off) - they came apart...

    FMTV Highway Speed

That post from before the ECO hubs were introduced was mistaken in their understanding of the 1:1 reduction hubs delete. It doesn't double the drivetrain speeds, it cuts them in half. Makes everything turn slower. And the ring/pinion size is only 1/10" smaller in diameter than other similar...

Transmission control panel is blank...can't crank anymore

The transmission control modules are very sensitive to battery and voltage problems. The older one's in those A0 trucks more so than the newer ones. Check the fuses and relays that feed the module power, and you can check for power at the module connector (refer to diagrams in the TM's section...

Learn from Chucky..., FMTV cab support tool

Easy. Army maintenance bays have overhead cranes. They just pull the box off. Four nuts, a wiring connector, and the quick connect diesel hoses for the heater. They have cranes on the HEMTT wrecker that could do it in the field. Mostly though - they get rid of the trucks or have them depot...

Learn from Chucky..., FMTV cab support tool

I will only add that the military technically requires troops to use a support - piece of 4x4, etc - to block the cab up while working under it.

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

If him, MME, and WCR are all selling them - then the manufacturer will sell to anyone. And the price is likely to be significantly lower. Wouldn't surprise me if they were ~$450 per unit if bought in quantity.

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Any idea what factory in china is making them? Most of this type of stuff comes out of smaller production in China or Taiwan. If we could find the manufacturer we might be able to do a group buy here on the forum.
