    New steering wheel

I too am going to have to replace my steering wheel eventually. Did you use a standard steering wheel puller or is there one specifically for the M35?

    Civilian wheel cylinders

The NAPA wc were marked "made in China" by the way.

    Civilian wheel cylinders

My NAPA wheel cylinders showed up today & i sent them back. They looked awful. Beat up boxes, split boots on 2 of them, copper washer bent all up. Im going to order the Raybestos from Summit & see if I have any better luck

    Front wiring harness swap blues

Your right, the whole points thing was definitely before my time. Most every truck I've had has been from the 80s & I wouldn't have it any other way. Im one of these guys that thinks the TBI chevy is the still the best thing going. The reliability of fuel injection & the simplicity of an old...

    Front wiring harness swap blues

Ha! On goat trails like that it's going to take you 14hr in anything. Thats IF your modern pos don't break something before you get there. There's alot more to it than speed & comfort. Special tools, well of course. Its a Mercedes, what do you expect.

    Front wiring harness swap blues

Totally agree! Boggles my mind the $$$ people spend on the garbage they build now.

    Front wiring harness swap blues

Man that sounds like fun. Nothing I hate more than fighting w/buggered up fasteners. I have the same job ahead of me. My harness is trashed. Other than the fasterers giving you a fit how hard a job is the swap? I have a new harness waiting patiently in the shop. Are all of the components on the...

    Civilian wheel cylinders

Man, all this Chinese BS is depressing:cry: I just want my brakes to work so I can drive my bad a$$ American truck!

    Civilian wheel cylinders

Ok, i stand corrected. I figured that the cups w/no centering divot was just another way of cutting corners. Im glad I was wrong.

    Civilian wheel cylinders

Well that makes me feel a little better. It's a shame that even our brake parts that our lives & the lives of those around us depend on have gone to China. It's even worse that they try to sneak it in on us & hope we don't notice.

    Civilian wheel cylinders

Hmm.... that could potentially be a problem. Id be willing to bet none of the current production NAPA, Wagner, Raybestos, Dorman ect have that centering divot. I wonder if the "good" cups can be bought anywhere & put in our new wheel cylinders. Good eye, i didn't even notice that.

    Civilian wheel cylinders

I will. I hope the hoses aren't Chinese too. They are the ones from Big Mikes.

    Civilian wheel cylinders

Well I just ordered 6 of the UP4419 from the local NAPA and all new hoses. Hope that keeps me sealed up for a few years. The Raybestos from Summit was a little cheaper but the NAPA is lifetime warranty.

    Civilian wheel cylinders

The Raybestos WK45 rebuild kit shows the correct spring. Would it be safe to assume that they also use the correct spring in there new WC?
  16. sgms18

    Civilian wheel cylinders

Summit has the Raybestos 4419 for $23 & free shipping over $100. I wonder if the Raybestos uses the tapered spring. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/agb-wc4419

    Civilian wheel cylinders

This was one of my main concerns. Im no wheel cylinder engineer but I can definitely see where the tapered spring would seal better. Its good to know the NAPA part uses the correct spring. Man some of those NOS wheel cylinders look like garbage! I don't know how people could sell stuff like...

    Civilian wheel cylinders

I have read several posts saying WC4419 will work on the deuce. Is there any difference between these wheel cylinders & the ones you get from the surplus places? Is one of higher quality than the other?

    Brakes come & go

Please do. Im interested to know how it turns out.

    Brakes come & go

I had a chance to get the master cyl open this evening & its full up to just under the threads so im not loosing fluid.
