    Dash pad help.

Right on, For 35 years I was a Grading Forman for a few large excavating contractors and maps, topography, blueprints and the big Yellow, Green, and Red machines. Retired now but every now and then I "think" that I miss it, but then I "think" again. :clinto:

    Dash pad help.

topo that is a civi 1 ton I gather. Dual tanks, 205, 4 gear, looks like blue interior. Are you in dirt work, starting fluid, topography, Operator or Laborer?

    Dash pad help.

In all honesty I have never thought of doing that. Is that in a CUCV? Why the blue color?

After you trouble shoot and possibly repair for the seller, the seller may just decide to keep truck. Just Saying

    I'm new to Deuce world.

Welcome to the Forum! Since you live in the North, and depending on if you plan to use the truck in the winter months will determine the weight of oil used. Just one thing, what ever oil you choose make sure that it has some kind of zinc content. Or if not an additive should be used for anti...

    B17 Nine-O-Nine crash in CT - 2019-10-02

Thanks frank8003 I have to add that there are ready clues that have been surmised in the preliminary report. Now they have to figure out why? Many hours will be spent finding the reasons. Lets be respectful of speculation until the investigation has run its course. Remember the Spirit of...

    PO modified starter circuit questions

Try going to the post Viet Nam to Desert Storm forum to CUCV Sticky Helpful Threads, then CUCV color wiring diagrams. That will get you started to figure out what has been done and how to repair back to original or help you to modify. Plenty of TM's also for the whole truck, with the part...

    Volt Meter Bulb Socket Question

Zues51, do you have any access to salvage yards in the area? If so if they will let you look around and search for a suitable replacement you may find just what you are looking for.

    Hard top dents and warping

This may sound a little weird but dry ice works pretty well after boot prep. And I just like this pic:wreckerman893:

    6.5 GEP NA or 5.9 12v NA?

If going the 292 route you need to find more than just the engine. You need a donor truck to get the needed parts. To make the swap easier.

    6.5 GEP NA or 5.9 12v NA?

At least around my neck of the woods you can still find. I can throw a rock and hit one in a 70 Chevrolet truck with 3 treed. Most that are left are abandoned on old farms out of sight. And there are 292 specific parts that need to be found also to be used where a V8 once resided, auto or stick.

    M1123 vs. M1045A2

Free? Maybe use for a pattern to make out of another material. In the crunch of developing add on armor in the field I have heard from my Nephews that a lot of scrap materials were used to give any type of protection from just small arms fire. He went on to say that windows were not even...

Pinion seal - which side is which?

Sound Advise, the sleeves can save a bad wear surface or "prevent" one from happening. The problem with the sleeve is that the seal is tolerance made for original size. However the seal if need be can always be replaced at a shorter interval as needed.

    6.5 GEP NA or 5.9 12v NA?

I still see them, look at full size Chevrolet cars from the mid 60's on to 1 ton, 2 ton trucks and I seen one transplanted into a 85 S10 in a salvage yard a few months ago. Talk about tight fit, core support cut out, firewall hammered back. 292's were placed into trucks into the mid 80's. I do...

Where do you draw the line $$$

Supply and demand. I will not gage by cost so much as availability of replacement parts, and quality of product. The HMMWV is available in increasing numbers. The prices I believe are artificially inflated still. I will try and purchase more than one truck, as to have extra parts when needed...

Broken Starter Bolt removed. Easiest method I've found.

I also like to add that looking up into the bolt hole to make certain that no grease has been accumulating inside hole so that bolt can not bottom out, causing a twist off. When is the last time anyone has checked that? I know that I was guilty once, once. Any blind hole I will pick out to make...

Broken Starter Bolt removed. Easiest method I've found.

The knurled section of the starter bolt countersinks into the block starter bolt hole to clearance itself to create a non tolerance fit. That it is why new bolts should be used when replacing starter. Starter clearancing are very tight new, however the mounting surfaces on used rebuilt starters...

    '42 GPW script Navy jeep

Very nice GPW. The few that I have seen being in the Midwest, have been completely gray. Back in the 60's I seen one that was painted yellow over gray that I thought was really strange. If I remember right it was used as a CD vehicle?
