I REALLY need some of Fuzzytoaster's LED taillights, LOL. I probably won't even notice the CUCV and trailer behind me until I try to back up or climb hills.:D
I've got some more stuff to sell, especially if you need some wrecker BII. If you're interested, let me know by Thursday so I can load it on the truck as I'll be leaving early Fri AM.
As above, NOS medium tow bars with 1" feet, 3/4" feet and axle clamps for $500.
15-ton single sheave snatch...
Can't wait to hit the road. I'm picking up Fuzzytoaster's M934 at Jeepsinker's place and towing my M1031 and M101A2 trailer behind it to the Rally. Spent today packing everything up and installing the tow bar on the CUCV and the tow lights on the trailer. The total length of the triple tow is...
Had a no-start problem with a M931A1 last week that had cranked and ran 3 times the week before. Even jumping with another truck the starter would only click once. Charged the batteries for 2 days and tried jumping again. Turned out one of the batteries was bad, even though the voltage showed...
Do we have a buy/sell/swap thread yet? If so I missed it.
I've got some NOS tow bars still in the crates with all parts for $500. Also have some M939 series take-off parts (PM to see if I have what you need). Will only bring with a commitment to purchase.
I'll take my usual spot. I'll either drop off a load of firewood a week or so before the rally if I bring the M1031, or with me to the rally if I bring a cargo MV. I haven't decided what I'm bringing yet.
I think the width of the HMMWV body is around 85 or 86 inches, and the width of the M101A2 trailer is 73.5" as per the TM. So the hard cover for the HMMWV will overhang the trailer by at least 6.5" on each side. I don't know what the length of the hard cover or the bed length of the HMMWV is...
Try to air up the truck with another air compressor or truck to make sure you really don't have a leak and can get the pressure up to 120psi or so. Since it's a tractor, cycle the brake valve under the heater controls several times and make sure the trailer brake control lever is fully up...
Welcome to the site!
Unfortunately, CDL discussions are discouraged here since the discussions degrade quickly into confusion and pissing contests. CDL requirements are so state-dependent and have so many exemptions and conditions that what most folks post will be incorrect for your state...
Nice work. With all the surplus tractors out there, I'm surprised more folks don't do this.
One nit - "The M105A2 trailer bed is rated at 3000lbs..." Actually the whole M105 trailer is rated for 3000lbs offroad and at least 4500lbs highway. The bed itself can probably hold a great deal more...
I have a couple of drums of unused but probably 15 years old rotella-type motor oil that I don't want to use as lube oil in my engines due to the age. I've been adding 1 gallon of that clean unused oil plus 1/2 gallon of new Quicksilver 2-cycle oil per 55 gallon drum of diesel when I fill it up...
The military usually has the tires inflated to ~15psi, but I've found the trailer travels smoother with 30psi. I have picked up one with very little air pressure, but with the run-flats in the tires, you couldn't really tell - so check the tires before you hit the highway.
Your hitch will work...
