What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Vehicle maintenance, or I guess any off-site maintenance. Has a 12KW PTO gen and 5HP air compressor to run tools and equipment.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

All original except for the 6 inch lift and HMMWV tires (and now the paint).

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Just completed (almost) a Behr camo paint job on my M1031. The most of the green went on with a Wagner sprayer, and the brown and black and some green went on with a 1 1/2" brush. I got the truck a couple of months ago and started attacking the surface rust on the cab with sanding and...

    Brakes won't release

The passenger side front gladhand behind the bumper should have NO valve in the piping, and the gladhand cover should have a little bobblehead vent that the cover on the driver side gladhand does not have.

    Saying hello from Clearwater FL

Welcome! I lurked on this site for over 3 years before joining and purchasing a Deuce. It's been a downward spiral into the green iron disease ever since. You have been warned!!!

    New to the Board!

Congratulations and welcome! It's your truck to modify as you wish. BTW, you need to add city/state to your profile.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I hope all the homes on that street were elevated above your wake. Seen some armed irate homeowners in low lying neighborhoods guarding their streets against speeding cars during high water times.

    M939 intermittent no-start?

May be loosing fuel prime. Is it worse the longer it sits before you try to start it? Assuming NHC250 engine looking at your title.

    My M101A2 Camper build

Thanks, Mark. I've followed your build and the ones on Expedition Portal and picked up lots of ideas, but I'm trying to keep the trailer original (I still have the regular tires). I don't know why exactly, since there are so many of these trailers out there, unlike the M416 and M101a3...

Your truck has a really nice paint job, better than most of the ones I've bought! Welcome:beer:

New M1008 owner in the UK

Very clean. Any rust issues from salt on the road like we have in some northern states?

    HMMWV directional tires right?

They are non-directional as per TMs

    Alaska to Alabama in Brutus

I'd cut over to Edmonton and Winnipeg and travel south down the plains through St Louis and Jackson MS, then go east to Montgomery and Ft Rucker. You'd save about 1000 miles, 5-6 days, and $1000 in fuel. Once you get to Edmonton, you're out of the mountains and big hills. With the fuel...

Welcome. I would think it's unusual for a truck of that age to have dry-rotted tires. If the CTIS isn't working, those sidewall cracks may be sidewall damage caused by being flat so long and often. I'd replace them before driving at speed.

    My M101A2 Camper build

Yeah, that plug holder bracket will have to go. I was looking at putting a box there, but that would be a good place for a water jug. I want to keep close to the original military look with the cover, so I'll just have to deal with the dust.
