Worst case I was going to sleeve it down a size or two for clearance but now my curiosity has been peaked. If the correct multifuel shaft is indeed a smaller OD they can be had NOS and complete for $150 shipped. I'm not above modifying something as a means to an end but I do prefer using...
Instead of "all correct" I should have said that everything appears to have been a complete bolt-on with no fabricated parts or strange thing having been done. The flex and twist concern is exactly why I posted. Now I need to see if I can find the diameter spec for a multifuel driveline. Maybe...
Funny you mention that. I was just reading an old thread and saw a random reference to the gas driveline and bellhousing rubbing but not much was said about it. I just checked and the PTO driveline in the truck currently is 2.00" OD.
It looks like yours has been changed out like mine was. Below is the best reference photo that I have of an original lead chain and hook. You can see that the hook definitely looks oversized for the chain.
While going over the new to me M35A2C I ran across something odd. The truck is a WO/W that has had the correct winch installed. Everything appears to be original parts and the install looks like clean.
While spooling the wire off to take it down for a new thimble I heard a very light dragging...
Thanks for the input. I forgot all about silicone oil as a preservative. I have heavy Mylar bags that approximate the original military packaging to eliminate sunlight exposure.
Below is the original master cylinder packaging from Bendix.
I actually downloaded and read that before I posted. Yes, I search and read for days first in the hopes that I won't look like an a**.
All I see in that is the standard cool, dry, and keep away from ozone heavy environments. Unless I missed it I don't see anything regarding the use of O2...
I'm part of the prepper wing. That's why I already have all of the storage supplies. =)
Unfortunately that side of the world doesn't really discuss the storage of rubber products. Just food and powder.
I was wondering if anyone has any insight into the long term storage of soft part like rubber seals? I have two items so far that I would like to store safely. A replacement seal for the air cylinder on my Air-O-Matic and a dual circuit master cylinder. I know that many of the military spares...
I'll throw my new to me M35A2C in the mix. Truck is from Hill AFB in Utah.
16,457 miles and 589 hours. Original LDT465-1D with C turbo.
Unit #: 87K2004
VIN: 1040-10067
Warranty Date: 05/87
WO/W Truck (winch has been added)
I was reading the old thread about parts availability. Does anyone know of replacement cylinder seal (o-ring) availability? I tried Arthur (apbloom) but no reply.
That's the conclusion that I was coming to also. Not sure why the seller was stating that there were differences. I've run across a few used kits but most of them have damaged air cylinders.
The hunt continues...
In my search for an air assist kit for my new to me M35A2C I was told that the Air-O-Matic kit for an A3 will work on an A2 but some parts must be changed. I've read what little literature I can find and every thread I've run across. I see no mention of the differences.
Is there any chance...
Was able to strike a deal and drag her home. The Chief at the fire station tore into the fuel system trying to get her to run. I'm guessing they didn't have a copy of the TM for proper starting procedure. Fortunately it looks like all of the parts are there. I'll have to reinstall the day tank...
