If you're going through more than a couple tanks a year, then no real need for treatment. As long as you buy clean, dry diesel and don't let it sit for more than 3 or 4 months, you should be fine without treating it.
If you're buying and storing diesel longer than a year or so, then I'd start...
agree with the others.
My tank still has at least 5 gallons when on empty. Every 1/4 tank mark equals 5 gallons. Fuel gauge sometimes seems to move normally, but usually just shows one of a few positions.
Float in tank is unaffected by vacuum.
My truck seems to be an exception to multiple of the rules for these things, as it was MAK equipped, and had the cast upper mounts and lower arms that work with the scissor jack under the hood.
Just saying that most trucks will fall within the common usages, but you still need to check...
Weight in the back will soften it up some, but you'll still want to change out the front springs. My truck definitely feels softer in the rear with about 2-3k worth of weight in it (M1123 with MAK suspension still installed) Empty if one wheel us about 6" higher than the others, one corner is...
"won't start" isn't much of a description of what's going on.
You will receive better help if you do a couple of things
1) start your own thread. Every thread on here is supposed to be related to a single thing. Jumping into a thread about someone else's truck with a problem not related to...
just for future reference, you might want to include your model and what alternator you have in your truck when asking about parts replacements/upgrades, as all we can really do is give general advice (and it's not always useful for every truck, so sometimes it's dead wrong)
Bolts get lock washers (nord lock seem to be the most commonly recommended type) and medium strength locktite.
It's also recommended that you use new bolts, as the torque spec is over the recommended torque for that size/grade of bolt, making them single use (it's not that far over, so you can...
Only need the ether to seat the tire bead if you aren't running military tires with beadlocks.
if serpentine belt system, the bearings for the idler pulley are relatively easy to swap out. I've had 2 different trips where the bearings failed, and fortunately had the tools on my to pull the...
60 amp alternator the brushes and regulator are readily available and relatively inexpensive.
The dual voltage alternators rarely have issues with the unit itself; most of the time it's the external regulator that fails.
civilian alternator is going to be more readily available, but are...
You can put anything you want in them, if you can find someone to make the brackets and stuff you need, or can do it yourself.
There are at least a few people selling a civilian 24V alternator kit to replace the OEM unit, all you really need to do is add a 24-12V converter if you have a 4 speed...
Most of the issues occur when the vehicle is originally registered using the SF-97. Too many offices don't understand what's supposed to happen, so they spin some BS about why it isn't allowed in order to cover their butts and not take responsibility.
Most of the time, if the state isn't...
I do believe there are 24V versions of the heaters. If nothing else 24-12V converters the size you would need are really cheap. Personally though I hate using my vehicle battery for anything not related to starting the truck, so If it were mine I'd use an Orion converter as a battery charger...
I've never had to replace any of the studs holding the wheels together. You only need to replace them if something is wrong, like someone over tightened and stretched them, or they have heavy rust damage, or anything like that. As long as you reassemble them with a little bit of caution (don't...
5 years is the cut off for the MT/R tires, due to sidewall failures. For MT or Baja I wouldn't worry as much.
Feltz tire sells tires by date code for very reasonable pricing.
Depending on what tire type you want, 100% tread with guaranteed date codes are in the $275-$350 range.
Freight was...
The main purpose of the lubricant is to keep the tire from catching fire while driving on it at higher speeds when the tire goes flat. 30 miles at 30 mph. Of course at that point the tire is trashed and you need a new one.
I can't think of any situation in the civilian world where you would...
Which top are we talking about?
If it's a hard top with a turret, then short of removing the turret and sealing the top with a flat plate, you're pretty well screwed.
If it's a soft top and physically leaking through the tarpage, then you probably need to replace it.
2 mechanical pumps failed/didn't work, and only with an electric pump and aftermarket fuel filter...
to me sounds like you have a restriction in the fuel system. The usual culprit is the fuel check valves in the supply/return lines just in front of the fuel tank becoming clogged up and passing...
Either the regulator is failed, there is a bad connection for the 14V feed from regulator to battery, or the rear (top in your picture) battery is failed/dead.
Here is a link to the manufacturer's troubleshooting guide for the 200 ampalternator...
The troubleshooting guide by the manufacturer is a much simpler and easier to understand flow chart than the military TMs.
It doesn't have very many things to actually check to be honest, so you will find it MUCH simpler and easier than the 20 level manuals
if it was rebuilt in 2020, then it's pretty much guaranteed that it is a 6.5.
The fact that it's a serpentine belt system confirms it's a 6.5, as the 6.2 never had the serpentine belt system.
Just for reference though, what's the model number and serial number for your truck? The serial will...
