I looked at using Ld pistons in my LDS and found the LD piston has ports on the bottom of the piston that lead to the oil ring and the LDS piston has two ports that lead to the oil ring and two larger ports that lead to a cavity in the top of the piston .
I pulled the oil pan on my ENDT 673 E I don't know what oil was used in this engine but it was very clean ( Rotella clean ) I pull a main and a rod cap both had bearings dated 8-98 they looked real good the crank looked very good . I noticed that this engine has no piston oilers .
I pulled the fly wheel and bell housing off of the Mack ENDT 673 E today I noticed that the military bell housing holds the seal for the crank on the civilian engine it has a housing that holds the seal . I have to pull the pan next and check the main and rod bearings .
I checked on pistons and liners for both engines and they where about the same . the LDS pistons have less rings then the old ones so maybe they have less compression = less power .maybe the military wanted this because the 5 ton LDS engine when rebuilt it would go back in a m35 and not a 5 ton...
I bought two mack ENDT engines today one is a 673E and not sure about the other. The one engine has a SAE #2 bell housing I was told mack only used SAE#2 clutch on there gas engines or the military trucks .the same engine has a belt driven power steering pump .that I have never seen on a mack .
Yes I replaced them on my m52a2 so my new seals will have a new surface to ride on the old ones had a grove . They act like a wear ring or a speedy sleeve just so the seal won't grove the axle it's self . to remove them put a chisel on it like you are going to cut it but tap it lightly in a...
When I first bought my m211 1986 I installed a safety switch on the fuel to turn off the fuel when the oil presser dropped to low so if the engine died it would not keep pumping fuel . and I had this kind of problem because the oil presser on the 302 is not very high when idling and it would...
I yes you should . I turned my m211 in to a tractor I pull a car trailer and can move the larger trailer when I need to . It's easy to park in town when we go to dinner . the bed was just to tall .
27 inches on the back I would leave the front drive line out for now . you don't want any damage done to your transfer case simple pushing and pulling can lead to problems
