I went out for a joyride and it started on first push. When I stopped and restarted still no issue so it's definitely an intermittent slipping/sticking thing. I'll try to take some time to disassemble in the next week or two.
My deuce has been getting worse over time when I start it. As long as the batteries have been sitting on the maintainer, it does it way less, but is becoming more frequent. For a while it would not do it after running for a while or if it was fresh off the maintainer. So... here's what it's...
Mine would not drop and I had to remove a couple of bolts from sides of the master so it would slide into the rearward hole to get it loose. Instructions are in the TM and are solid but I didn't see any part about the bolts on the side in the TM but with those off it came right out. Read here...
Well... I have a little envelope with studs I found that are super-close to the original and grade 8. One day, I'll get this little task done. Order of operations currently is: singles, intermediate axle brakes, driveshaft swap, battery tray and driver tool box repairs, turbo manifold bolts...
Yeah, I can't seem to find 90%+ tread in xzl that are more recent date codes. A lot of sites are listing but don't actually have them or only have a couple.
Ok, since I seem to be all over the place in this thread, let me make it more clear. I like the 12.00R20s and since I can run those on the stock split ring wheels, I am going to go that direction. As I have 11 wheels, I'll pick the 7 best, clean them up and paint them, then mount the 12s after...
Thanks!
So let's assume I want to go with 12.00-20s in XML/XZL singled. Or is the goodyear 272 still made? From the picture above it appears these have been singled on stock wheels. I guess I could go that route and save the money on the wheels? Flip the rear hubs, mount them using a cage...
Did Feltz tire go under? Their site for feltz tire south here in texas has been down for a while and I just noticed their main site is now in some kind of "default" mode by their web host service. They haven't returned either of my emails from the last two weeks...
I guess the michelin XML/XZL in a 12.00R20 would also work on the 20x8.5 beadlocks and be just a little beefier. Given the width I'm sure these would be fine as well singled. I see some 2013+ date code floating around in 90%+ tread...
Thanks! I'll keep looking for the correct wheels in stock. I thought the same thing -- i.e. the width but then a user asked the same question in the comments and they say 20x11 which is why I was confused...
Q M35a3 wheels are 11 inches wide. Is 8.5 a typo?
A nope, its not typo, we talking...
These are m35a3 wheels that bolt right up -- I believe. There's only one of these types of wheels, correct? I am wanting 395 85 20 or 14.5R20, whichever I can get newer, cheaper, and most tread for. I'll need 7 so I have a spare plus the tires, of course...
I'm going to try one from tramec sloan as they are USA made it seems. They are a little bit more expensive but I'll try just one. I really feel like the ones I got are just a bit slow even for just getting the water out. I can see the mist when I pull it but I feel like it needs a faster...
All - I recently bought a pair of air tank drain valves with cables so I could empty them from the side of the truck. I don't quite remember where I got them without searching as I bought a bunch of parts when I first got the truck. The problem is they bleed quite slowly. For those of you who...
Update. I pulled the wheel apart and both ends of the wheel cylinder were DRY. I obviously lost a LOT of fluid but the only place I could see it possibly leaking would be right at the bottom of the banjo bolt as it just touches the hole in the backing plate. It could then have seeped between...
I climbed under there and checked carefully around the fitting and the bleed screw with a flashlight and it is clean and dry but I'll check that area again to be certain I'm not missing something. Can it leak to the other side of the plate without showing anything on the bleeder side? Either...
This is my .02 and I'm sure others will vehemently disagree. I suppose you could do the air assist steering mod. It's about $3K last I checked. Plus you still have hundreds and hundreds of dollars (really $thousands) to address 50 years of neglect. Money aside, the "need to do 60mph" thing...
I had JUST finished my rear axle on both sides! I had gear oil in the hubs because of too loose axle nuts and deteriorated cork seals. I cleaned up everything, replaced wheel cylinders, adjusted brakes, and bled the brakes. Everything was PEACHY on multiple drives. I went out today to take a...
