I think it will depend on where you plan to place the airbags in relation to the axle mounting points on the lead pack as well as the leaf pack mounting points to the chassis. If I completely understand what you're thinking of, you're after a progressive style front suspension. I think it might...
Since I mentioned the air ride cab, I've really been thinking about its feasibility. I just took pictures of my truck and I think it could easily be done.
The mount for the front of the cab (cab side) has convienient round holes above the body pucks that could be modified to hold a pivot point...
I have to agree with you Moose, LEOs can be downright vindictive if they think you are challenging them. Now I'm not saying to take it lying down, but it's better for us to just say 'yessir' and move on until the court date, then you can take in copies of the legislation in your defense and they...
You can debate that with the millions of 4x4's that use them legally. If I were to do as the OP asked and for some reason it HAD to be the suspension to change then I would massively over-engineer anything I did to it. But if it were me, I would change the seat and the cab to air-ride instead.
That's why I've always said that you can always put enough clothes to stay warm but you can never take off enough clothes to stay cool. That being said, I'm sick and tired of snow so I'll stick with sweating lol
That stuff looks like DynaMat which I know is really good at dropping interior road noise considerably, but is also a bit pricy. I forgot about using the Lowes/HomeDepot stuff for roofing. Although I don't care about trying to talk in the truck, it would be nice to make it a little quieter.
Just for the record, while each individual truck vary slightly, and will change with the load carried, the weight on the front axle is about 5tons and most of that is from the engine. I have the 6CTA8.3 so mine was 9,840 lbs exactly but that was when it was just a cab & chassis. I haven't...
I also have 2 sticks of curly maple but there is no way I'm putting that on the truck. Those two pieces are still nice and straight and I use them for the candle votives and other small items, not to mention just too nice of wood to put on the truck where it'll get beat up daily.
No worries, I forget most stuff people tell me too. That's why I'm so good at keeping secrets, cause I can't remember them myself most of the time lol
I do custom furniture and home decor items. Haven't had my tools with me for the last 4 years until I bought the truck and drug everything back...
I still have some black walnut 5/4 stock and cherry 4/4 and a little white oak 4/4 as well. Only issue is, it is my stock for my business. However since much of the wood has curled and twisted pretty bad I might find some pieces that are 10' long and rip them down and then plane them thinner as...
I like the look of yours Rooster, nice contrast between the metal bits and the wood. I need to replace all the wood for mine so I've been thinking about doing this as well. Only problem I foresee is that the only wood I can get at a reasonable price is Poplar and it'll have a greenish hue when...
You're a lot nicer than I am Wreckerman, I don't cut idiots any slack, but I will cover my ass and be as positive as my negative attitude towards this country's general populace will allow me. That is the very reason I live way out in the boonies, there are VERY FEW people I can actually get...
I think there's someone here that is considering doing this, don't remember who though. I'd rather have two different winches, but both easily removeable in case either one breaks.
Looks good Jericho! Maybe once I finish building the more important bits on mine I'll get to the seats. In the mean time though I'm thinking I'm going to add a couple spacers to my seat mounts so that I can make the OE seats at least more comfortable to ride in.
Be sure to post some pics if you do find one. In a way I kinda wish mine had come with the van body instead of bare chassis, but I did get it considerably cheaper than if it had it.
Looks like everyone has some good welding skills! I'll have to post up some pics the next time I use my welder. I have a battery operated welder and I use the batteries from house (and now possibly the 24v from the 5T) so it takes a real project to use it.
If I remember correctly, 23 is one of the wires to the rear tail lights (right side I think?), I saw it when I was pulling my tail lights off yesterday. Did it say at all what it is for? The white tag looks like it says GND, not sure what the red one says.
Found a listing on the ADOT website that showed a few in my roaming area, thanks for the tip! When I searched on google the only ones that showed up were in the Phoenix and Tucson area so I was bummed till I saw the total listing on the ADOT site.
