Here is a sound I didn't like. The sound of pressurized air shooting out of my t-case vent when I engaged the front axle. Turns out the air shift cylinder bore was corroded and had scored the piston and seal pretty badly. That allowed the air to blow past the seal and into the transfer case. I...
I'm a big fan of anti-seize myself. Although, I usually get more on myself than the part. I used cogged belts from Napa when I installed a Woltech alternator years ago. The belts seem rugged and flexible.
I agree. I used to drive an old single axle White 4000 with a 238 Detroit and a 10 sp. Loved that truck! I don't want to get too far off your topic, but I'm 67 and I've never owned a vehicle with an auto. Enough of me mucking around with your thread.
Having LDS power must be amazing! I run 11:00 x 20 Firestone T-831s myself. I think having the taller tires saps my power some, but they are phenomenal tires in snow. Queen Lola sounds great!
Damn, I'm jealous. I dream of putting a 10 sp Road Ranger in my Deuce, but the Spicer trans is so short and as a result, the distance from the bellhousing to the t-case is too close as well. It looks like you're doing a first rate job!
I'm agreed on the single circuit brakes, that's why I try to maintain my in good condition. I had to replace my front shoes and one drum last fall while installing new inner axle oil seals (that's a story in itself). When I pulled the driver's side drum off, two rounded off 3/8" steel nuts fell...
I had a Deuce brake safety item I wanted to post, so here it is. My brakes failed suddenly last winter while stopping for a traffic light on a slight downhill. The pedal went right to the floor. I downshifted to third and crept for about a quarter of a mile until I could safely pull over. The...
I just replaced my parking brake shoes today. The old upper shoe was almost down to the metal. I should have realized it by the symptoms it exhibited before it got to that point. I also discovered I'm missing that little spring that goes from the stop nut bracket to the very end of the upper...
Thanks AZK9 and mobileauto,
It's a year round home for us. I previously lived in an apartment for eight years after my divorce. My neighbors at the apartments loved Brutus. The apartment management did not. They threatened to have him towed away at my expense. They said it was a lease...
Brutus at our new Home
Hi Fellas,
Brutus and I bought a house in Effort, PA. That's in the Poconos. So far, my new neighbors seem to really like him. I used him to pick up a lawn mower last week. I need to adjust my parking brake too. Hope everyone is well.
Dipstick
I drove Brutus in the Phillipsburg N.J. Memorial Day Parade. I was alone and one of the parade marshals told me that there was a man named David who really liked my truck and wanted to know if he could ride along. I said "Sure." David turned out to be totally blind in one eye due to childhood...
