The "button" on the bottom of the plunger* (part of the hydraulic head) is the fuel button; it is held on by a 3-leg clip-on retaining spring. This spring is what you need to replace, as it wears out and allows the fuel button to fall off the shaft, causing the truck to get no fuel to...
Anything GR says is worth its weight in gold. Literally.
When you add the Cascade, go run the engine hard for awhile to get it good and warm, then flush it out....your best bet for coolant is the green, LOW-SILICATE type; chain stores like Auto Zone and O'Reilly usually don't carry it, you'll...
On the 3 I've done, each one would run like crap and the engine would die when the clutch pedal was depressed; also got lots of smoke from exhaust. After changing timing, each ran like a champ. Just my 2cents, I guess I should have explained that when it comes to me, I have to change the...
After getting all the parts, be sure to check any & all openings for obstructions, especially the turbo oil ports. Put a few drops of engine oil into the oil ports and rotate the turbo wheels, try to get a little lubricant on the moving parts before firing up the newly-turbocharged engine...
No issues here, although I only have about the same mileage as 98G on mine as well. But it seems to me that Budd bevel is Budd bevel, as long as you keep them torqued there shouldn't be an issue. At least not with the old tire/wheel guys I've asked.
Most MV groups I've seen (and especially the one I belong to) have at least a few members with European MVs of some sort. The 4x4 group I belong to also has a Landie and a Pinzgauer (4x4) that can both out-wheel anything else without even trying.
In the second photo, I can see oil dripping down the rear of the block (driver's side). Start following the leaking trail. The blow-by drain hose is near there, but I doubt it's coming from that after a simple oil change.
I had a similar problem with a friend's truck, I am awaiting a brand-new AirPak as I have rebuilt the old one twice and each time it gets worse (similar to problems here and in Frank's link). Rustystud commented in another thread I posted in, that he thinks it might be the small piston inside...
Sprockets are chain-drive type, looks like they were welded together with pipe or tubing. Spindles are in no way able to support weight of actual armored hull; those things look like pipe or tubing of some sort. And now that I see the latest batch of photos, it is absolutely home-made.
That...
I noticed that AMSOIL offers better oils for older engines, as well as additives, while reading through their latest newsletter. This has been a bit of a popular topic on a couple of the Dodge-Cummins forums I belong to as well.
This very topic came to mind when I checked 4 different popular...
Welcome aboard from Nevada (currently the Land of the Monsoon).
I'd encourage you to look at 98G's Deuce, if you're serious about buying one. He's not far up the road from you & a great guy to deal with.
