For that duty you are fine with the 8.3/Allison with modest power increases. The 920 with it’s walking beam suspension will not be a good choice for a camper.
The Cat 7155 comes with it’s own set of issues, it can handle huge power but is full of finicky o rings that fail and then you are broke down. Most people end up swapping in a Eaton/Fuller. I haven’t yet. Mine still works perfectly.
Are there unit markings on the rear bumperettes that match what is on the front bumper? Not entirely sure what the front markings mean. And the font is a bit big for US Army.
Is the picture of the pitched tent an example of what you have? Does your tent have stenciled data painted on it anywhere? The poles you have pictured look like GP medium poles.
Search for posts by Simp5782 on the subject. He is the only one on here that put big power through the Allison and I can tell you it didn't go well. Hmm, 300K in a 931, your spine will need to be rebuilt before the 8.3.
The rotochamber is only on wreckers. The clutch has no hydraulic aspect at all. If all the linkages outside the bellhousing are connected and moving, the issue is inside the bellhousing. Prepare for an unpleasant repair.
Wow that is how you want to find them. Looks like you got it in time before the rust got worse. Hopefully you can get it blasted and some new paint soon.
