Not sure of the makeup of various ATF types, but the type "F" had a friction modifier added to help clutches grab better. I used to put type "F" in many GM performance builds to get a better shift. Not sure how this translates to it's lubricating quality but thought I would throw it out there...

I ran a 700R4 behind a built 427 w 4.56 gears & 35" tires. It was a good combination that I would not hesitate to do again.With all the 4L65E & 70 parts out there now you can build an upgraded 700 rather easily for less than a 4L80E that will hold decent power.
I had one that was siliconed between the 2 rim halves. There was so much surface area bonded that I had to chain it between 2 trucks to pull them apart.

The 700R4 has a large drop in OD, so the 4.56 will work out to a decent cruise ratio in OD.
I used to run my Chevy truck with 35" tires & a built 427 with a 700R4 & it was a good combination.
Tire size has a lot to do with gearing also, but the overdrive allows you to have the best of both...
My take is that unless you are snow plowing, or towing heavy loads, you likely don't need an auxiliary cooler.
Generally, I always buy a large enough cooler to totally eliminate the factory radiator cooler & install a trans temp gauge if I am using something for severe duty, but... I don't live...
