JD2250 bought used in the mid 90's with 215 hours. Replaced the clutch last year at 2400 hrs. Otherwise never any repairs. I was at the dealership last week for filters and the mechanics were gathered around having morning coffee. They all said don't ever sell that tractor it is the last of JD's...
I was lucky to acquire a set a year or so ago so I don't need them. I would just like to say how thankful I am that guys like Light in the Dark and Kloppk have the knowledge and take the initiative to help all of us out. I'm sure there are others that I have missed. The prices they are...
I have a loader tractor I can use to move my MEP'S if I have to but really they just aren't portable. The MEP831A requires a 6 man lift in the armed forces believe it or not although in a panic 2 men could move it. Lack of portability is the reason I will never get rid of my Honda EU2000

A tractor with forks or jacks on one side works wonders. Just tilt it way over and you can pour it in with a funnel. I agree though. Terrible design especially when deployed
I don't have any battery problems. I was able to find a 24 V OEM battery on eBay and I leave a Noco 24V maintainer plugged in 24/7. I also have a spare 831A with 2 12V gel batteries that work well too. Both generators start immediately in cold weather The biggest problem I have is a short...
I routinely run my 831A at my camp in northern Ontario Canada in -25 C temperatures without additives but I make sure I buy my diesel after the cold weather arrives. The suppliers automatically put all the additives in. I guess such low temperatures are so rare in Texas you have to supply them...
If the boot is similar to the one on an 803A I found fabricating an aluminum plate with the proper size hole for a conduit connector was a way more secure connection than using the boot. I was always concerned rodents would chew through the boot fabric.
