My guess is you have an air leak in the vacuum side of the fuel system. Its a known issue. What sometimes works is use the trick I learned on the internet about leaky plastic mercedes fuel lines which is cut a piece of fuel hose whose inner diameter is the outer diameter of the plastic fuel...
Many of us have bought seals from Foxkits.com . I believe that yes you have dual boom cylinders. Case - Backhoe/loaders - Page 1 - FoxKits.com
FWIW, I had a leaking boom cylinder that I finally rebuilt this year. It appears that whoever had assembled the cylinder long ago at the factory put in...
FYI, the STE ICE harness is not on the electricla diagram and is not needed to run the SEE. It was obvioulsy added on post factory. Good luck on new harness install. My guess is you may need to lift the cab to get it installed.
Time to learn how the search mode work on the Misc Tech Manual subforum
The SEE student handbook in the Misc Tech Manal section has some simplified air system diagrams
Time to start tracing out the fording system and the air system diagrams. The SEE student handbook in the Misc Tech Manal section has some simplfied air system diagrams. The short version is that air come out of the primary air system near the air tank where its routed preferentially to the...
Yup, I think I was the one long ago that flagged this issue. Texas and the Red River arrmy depot seems to be a common location for this damage.
I think I had more chewed wires than you. I did my repairs without the benefit of the wiring diagram which thankfully one of the Steel Soldiers members...
The Unimog "expert" I bought my 1300 from and who had recently bought two FLU419s a few years ago suggested that the filters be drained and filled with injection cleaner prior to the restart of engines that had been sitting around. He then primed the system until the relief valve lifted in the...
I have not seen a hard limit. I have seen 40 to 50 degrees over ambient. I think the difference between each portal is just as important as its likely that a leak would only be on one portal.
I think a lot of approaches have been tried and the solution is stock weight synthetic oil filled to the brim (or even slightly overfilled) with Vons special tubing to recover any oil that tries to go up the purge tubing. If the oil is in there they seem to do well but eventually there can be...
I have bought a few large items from AV over the years, like soundproofing mats and a used cab tilting jack. Both came by air freight (not cheap) but they were willing to do it. With all the goodies you want, it makes sense for AV to source a base truck, recon it and install all the parts and...
I disagree on this. There are many Mercedes NLA (No longer available) parts for the SEE. I run into them all the time. Mercedes supplied a "flyer" (incomplete chassis) to Badger in Wisconsin where many of the US components were installed, these are not Mercedes Parts numbers and would need to be...
With respect to the electrical gremlins, the TM has a very good section on electrical troubleshooting. This is fairly common issue with units stored at the Red River Army Depot and could turn into a lot of trouble. The rats like to nest directly behind the dash and chew on the main electrical...
Unimog 1300s have been very popular for off road camper conversions. I would suggest getting in contact with George at Unimog Center in NH as he has imported a lot of them. I am unsure how active he is these days. The German military versions are fairly stripped for a Unimog and that includes...
Broken Record TIme, Get the manual and do the point by point inspection of the vehicle, you will learn a lot and maybe catch a few major issues (like portal axles that need gearoil)
I have not done it but on typical relief valve if there isnt an adjusment screw hidden under a cap to adjust the preload on the relief, then
I have not done it, but this thread mentions cranking up a screw FLU419 Front loader | SteelSoldiers Since it is an inline relief valve my guess is the...
Thanks all for the feedback. Its next on "the list".
I think the general observation that applies to Unimogs extend to the SEE. It will rarely strand you anywhere but it does seem to always have needed repairs. I knock out one issue and another couple appear.
