    Downshifting question

I was instructed the gear required for going up a hill is the gear recommended to use for going down the hill. If you need third to go up, then use third coming down. Downshifting was necessary to reserve the brakes from overheating. Downshifting while it is not an art, it must be applied...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

FINALLY!!!! received my Florida Antique License Plate today (27 July, 2013) for my 65' M109A. I was forewarned that the state was somewhat puzzled on how these trucks were to be tagged. I purchased the truck late April 2013, registered and first payment to the state early May. Got notice from...

Prepping to run WMO "Free Fuel"

If stopped and they find 'free fuel' you are subjected to both state and federal fines. IRS starts at $1 per gallon or $1,000 which ever is greater (I am sure that is per tank).

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Bought the M109a early April, moved it today for the first time. Those tires hadn't been flexed in 5 years and what a ride across town. Hope to start with must overdue fluid changes. Need to determine filters and what fluids are recommended now. Not that the TM's are not great guide lines, I...

How/where re you guys mounting your license plates?

Found this for Florida: A former military vehicle that is used only in exhibitions, parades, or public display is exempt from the requirement to display a license plate or registration insignia if the exemption is necessary to maintain the vehicle’s accurate military markings. However, the...

    "reconditioned" gas tank

We clean tanks daily; boats, farm, construction, military, etc. Gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, any of the fuels and this is what keeps us busy, dirty fuel tanks. In this case a good fuel filter with proper care could have save the original tank from being as it is now. Oh well, "to each his own"...
