Also found a couple of my strays checking out the trucks. They corrected mom when she pointed to a humvee and told them to look at the jeeps. Brought a tear to the eye haha. Like a say they were awesome about letting us walk through a look at stuff. It was 80 degrees so it was like a furnace...
The midway museum is my favorite to see. I am a bit of a dry lander but it makes me respect those who sacrifice time in their lives to keep our countries safe. Had a friend our was a mechanic-he said it was fun launching a recovering aircraft for a few days then was a job. But the pilots loved...
It looked like me to me like anything newer than an early deuce they had in abundance! Gobs of m35, 800 and 900 series trucks. Hard parts, axles, tires galore. A few trucks were wrecked and donors. Truly the pics did not do it justice. I would guess it was about 3-5 acres of just trucks with a...
Snapped u guys a few pics of Boyce equipment in salt lake. Never been there so thought I would stop. They had a ton of g742, 2.5 and 5 ton trucks, bunch of axles, trucks in various repair, and some humvees. They had a ton of tires, he said their 1100-20 tires were dwindling. Just crushed a...
Cool! Never been to the idaho motor pool, or boyce. Army surplus has been well visited. Did you make it on the USS Midway Aircraft carrier in SD. Will see if we make it out to El Cajon...have a brother that lives in the vicinity. You are well traveled!
Asked my wife how far laramie was(in hours...
Headed down to San Diego to visit some family, and a little business trip...does anyone have anything headed that way? Were driving and have some room if someone needed a few things trucked down there--thinking of gentrysgarage?
He thought I was just a tire kicker, which I guess I was cause I didn't have a Tranny I needed parts for. I did explain to him that a number of people would be interested and be sales for him. But he sounded busy. Said maybe when things slowed down. I am serious about trying to find all sources...
Jeffhuey1n pm responded to.
Talked again the fatsco-they were tearing down a reduction unit to see if anything salvageable. Both were full of water and trashed. He did locate a good used reverse cone clutch-$82. Wanted to work with him in setting up a parts list available for these granny's...
And I would definitely agree with you on this. You can only save so much stuff, before economics takes over. And if parts go to the right hands, its not wasted to dismantle. I am after getting a truck that I can use, and tinker with. My wife actually has a little wisdom on this, in that she is...
USMC 00-08 Define cheap. I hate to part anything out, but worst would be for scrap to go up and it get crushed. If parting out keeping more trucks on the road, then so be it.
Speaking of hardtops, I realize I probably should spend sometime reading the TM's, there has to be a...
Yeah, in regards to the frame you know what happens when a bunch of farmers get a hold of something(haha-I actually am/grew up in a farming family). I tend to like to do things the hard way, I hate to see it get parted out, but being my first truck, it would be nice to find something a little...

Okay, finally got some time to go snap a few pics of one of these trucks that I know of in the county...Saddens me to see mud starting to get over the rims on this truck. Found an old clark manually tranny and clutch pedal in cab...hinting of possible conversion to a manual tranny. No...
USMC, not exactly sure of what the names were, had bad cell service, and we got to talking about other things before I remembered to ask what parts it was.
Moving forward I would like to get a master parts list of all the parts they stock, or can get for this transmission. If it saves one truck...
While were on the pn deal here are a few more...
Reverse cone and piston Hpahm41a, and hpahm41 $126 ea respectively
Cone and piston-HPAHM113+hpahm113A $158
In my opinion the g749's are the best looking deuces made. I had an opportunity to buy 2 for a thousand dollars, but continued to hear how...
Does anyone have a burnt up tranny that they want to part with? I wouldnt mind getting in the shop and tearing down to see what I'm actually talking about. The reality is I suppose there is not a huge demand-probably most collectors are doing very good to put 1000K miles on a truck in five years
Okay, Got a response back on the hydramatic parts from these folks-http://www.fatsco.net/hydramatic.html

Checking a few tranny suppliers they are showing reduction unit overhaul kits as available, as well as master overhaul kits which typically contain all frictions. I'll call tomorrow and see what they say.
