You know, if your careful you can pop the mirror glass out and spray them. You have to take the top one out first. The only thing that holds the glass in is the tab. I popped the glass out and painted mine black. You do have to be extremely careful.
So looking for a new engine for my 998. It’s a 92 and has a 6,2 (toast) mechanical IP. My question is what has to be added to run an electronic IP 6.5? I’m staying with the 400 trans as it’ll never see the highway. Is it easier/cheaper to switch the IP to mechanical, or add the parts to run the...
So now I have a new idea. I’m going to make a set with a slant back look. No seats, just the side boards. I drew up a plan last night so I’m looking for another set of the troop seats for a Frankenstein build. If anyone has a set close to Toledo pm me. I’ll photo document it this time.
That’s why I’m really leaning towards the new Navistar 6.5 from US Engines. 5k and put on my ancillaries and it’s ready to go. I did rebuild a ford 460 for a project. But I sold the Torino and still have the prepared engine. Wish it fit.
Well. No story. I bought it with a bad motor and when I tried to free it up I added some water to the reservoir. And when I did it immediately came out of the oil drain plug. Definitely a hole in the water jacket.
So I spent a lot of time building these four man troop seats. I even slanted the front to match the c pillar. Used the metal uprights cut to fit. Then welded it together. Now after looking at them for a couple of months I think I like it more traditional.
I’m going to stay away from a turbo and 4 speed. I want to keep it mechanical because I know them. Too bad there’s not enough room. I built this for a 70 Torino GT but sold it before I installed it. 650 hp and about the same in torque.
So I need a new engine for my 92. I can buy a 6.5 take out for about 2k and a new complete GEP drop in for about 5k. I’m not going to be towing or long trips and will mostly putt around in it and maybe some dry trail driving. Are the take out engines worth it? Any experiences from this. The new...
Also I made a panal for the Vic 1 intercom. I’ve looked to buy one but seem to be very rare. So I took off the bottom tray on my radio deck and diced and sliced until I was able to make one. Soon as it dries I’ll post after install pics
So I added a bed mat. I used a 4x6 horse stall mat and only made one cut. I’ve never worked with this stuff before but it’s very dense and heavy. About 150 lbs. so I don’t expect it to blow out. I’m thinking about using a hole saw to put a 3” hole over each d-ring.
Does anyone know the part number to this or even better know where to purchase one. It’s the forward latch to the dog house. I have the backing plate and the loop is still attached to the dashboard.
Thanks
I wondered why my jack looked different. My Hmmwv came with two complete jack sets and two sets of tire chains. The jack sets also contained two clevises and two steel pins with a d-ring at the top.
