    Turbo Rebuild 3LJ-319 (Whistler)

Hmm, J&H Diesel is saying they DO have a rebuild kit for a D turbo (Schwitzer 3LM-319)

rc car nitro as fuel ?

Yes, some more information would have been helpful. Sounds like the stuff would not be very safe by itself as a fuel, but I'd wager that a gallon or two poured into a tank of WMO wouldn't hurt anything. Of course I'd make that wager involving someone else's truck.

rc car nitro as fuel ?

I took him at his word, thinking perhaps he had a quantity of the stuff on-hand and wanted to use it up while it was still useful.

    Turbo Rebuild 3LJ-319 (Whistler)

Bump for a great thread; this is my next project (not by choice...). Hmm, I've been looking around and it looks like no rebuild kit for the D turbos? If anyone knows otherwise, let me know. I do have a "C" to be rebuilt, and have that kit already. But I was hoping to rebuild my leaking D as well.

    Slowest deuce restoration ever

Wow--haven't posted since May? Well, in the middle of summer heat and humidity I didn't get much done. Dove back in earnest over this weekend and discovered a setback--my turbo is leaking oil. I had previously seen some oil on the starter and figured it was dripping down from the manifold heater...

A restoration of my Deuce witha tip of the hat to vietnam

I'm reviving an older thread for a restoration-related question. Now, to be honest I'm not doing a full-on period-correct restoration. For one thing I don't have canvas cargo and cab covers. But regardless where I can make little choices along the way without a big impact to the budget, I'd like...

    Mud flap extra piece?

I did find and make that change already--but thank you!

    Mud flap extra piece?

Interesting! I do not have a dropside, so I think I'll be removing this. I don't see any purpose other than a place for rust to start.

    Mud flap extra piece?

Thanks, I'll look into that. In the meantime, I just went inside to the PC to post this pic:

    Mud flap extra piece?

What is the purpose of the circled item? Was there once a larger mudflap that has torn off from this bracket? Hmm, images from Tapatalk disabled? Since when?

    Show your 24087 deuces!!!

Looks great! I called Rapco yesterday to get some more 24087 and they were temporarily out. Should be within the next week...

    Repro brake light switch alernatives?

Per the advice of George at White Owl, I moved the fluid switch to the air side and it seems to work fine there.

    LDT-465 in a daily driver?

Any updates on the rat rod? Would really like to see how that turned out.

How many gallons of paint do I need?

Pfft. Two gallons may be plenty if you're just spraying over the truck as-is. I've been taking mine apart and spraying the pieces separately then re-assembling. I'm into my 3rd gallon and...one fender is done. Tool box. One step. Exhaust, mirror brackets, rifle holders, map compartment, doors...

    I imploded my winch.

The PTO linkage is supposed to be bent--I worried about the same thing: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?79364-PTO-linkage-bent BUT, the PTO should also have a spring and a ball-bearing detent to help keep it locked into place in whatever gear it is in (or out of). That's what I...

    86 M35a2 with a '66 engine? Is this possible?

Oh! PO=previous owner? In my world it means Purchase Order.
